About this role

Role Objective

To ensure timely, accurate, and compliant execution of GST-related activities across Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and its group companies by managing GST return filings, Input Tax Credit (ITC) optimization, reconciliations, audits, assessments, and process improvements. The role strengthens GST compliance controls, ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, minimizes tax risks, and supports business operations through effective GST reporting and automation tools.

Principal Tasks & Responsibilities

Return filing and tax payment

Manage timely and accurate filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, and GSTR-9C as applicable).
Prepare accurate data for the annual return (GSTR-9) and the reconciliation statement (GSTR-9C, as applicable).
Utilize ITC and Cash Ledger balances appropriately, ensuring timely payment of tax liabilities.

ITC monitoring and reconciliation

Monitor and validate ITC in compliance with GST rules.
Coordinate with the Accounts/Finance team for timely reconciliation of the ITC ledger, GSTR-2B, and books of accounts.
Escalate significant ITC mismatches and share relevant data with Accounts/Finance for resolution.
Monitor vendor GSTIN validity and communicate updates to Finance to prevent business disruptions.

Export, refunds and shipping bills

Update the sales reporting mechanism in GST returns for export invoices to enable smooth and faster GST refund claims.
Monitor and update shipping bill details to ensure IGST refunds are not delayed due to error codes.

Registers, books and data integrity

Update consolidated outward and inward supply registers to support GST and tax audit requirements.
Update consolidated input and outward GLs/registers for clearing in the books of accounts.
Communicate changes or discrepancies found while preparing return data to Finance for corrections in SAP master data, such as rectification entries.

Audits, assessments and notices

Prepare GST-related data and documentation to support audits and assessments.
Provide details and reconciliations of GST returns in response to GST demand notices and inquiries.

Compliance, controls and process improvement

Keep GST compliance updated in line with the latest legal and procedural requirements, and implement the resulting changes in internal processes.
Update and strengthen internal controls and checkpoints to prevent GST leakage or errors.
Guide and discuss internal process alignment with the team on data prepared for return filings.
Suggest process improvements for GST reporting (for example GL clearing, consolidated file maintenance, and ITC locking checkpoints in DigiGST) and communicate action points to the team.

Systems and automation (SAP and EY DigiGST)

Assist with the creation, correction, and modification of GST reports in SAP as required for return filing, such as export tax invoices reflected in Sales Register reports.
Update and ensure maximum utilization of EY DigiGST to optimize ITC balances.
Keep team members updated on new DigiGST features, such as Export Amend.
