About this role

Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia. We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value across the life of their assets. We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities :

- Lead electrical engineering activities for large-scale mining projects within multidisciplinary design teams.
- Manage and coordinate electrical design teams of 15 or more people, including resource planning, work allocation, priority setting, progress reviews, removal of blockers, and compliance with schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate interfaces with Process, Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical, Piping, Civil/Structural, Buildings, and other disciplines, ensuring technical consistency across deliverables and design decisions.
- Align the team with project objectives, engineering execution plans, cost and schedule targets, and client requirements; escalate critical decisions and facilitate resolution of open issues.
- Lead key technical reviews, design assurance activities, constructability reviews, and electrical risk assessments, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
- Monitor team productivity, deliverable quality, workload, budget, and performance, anticipating deviations and defining corrective actions when needed.

What you will find

- Participation in highly complex mining projects, including processing plants, mine infrastructure, substations, power distribution, and utility systems.
- A leadership role with autonomy, strong interdisciplinary interaction, and direct impact on engineering, project execution, and electrical design decisions.
- A dynamic work environment focused on coordination, safety, quality, traceability, cost control, and execution.

Work location: Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, with occasional site visits or plant walkdowns

Work arrangement: Hybrid (3 days office, 2 days remote)

What you will bring

- Degree in Electrical Engineering and proven experience as Lead Engineer or in an equivalent role on large-scale engineering projects, ideally above USD 1 billion.
- EPC/EPCM experience from the engineering/contractor side; client-side experience only is not sufficient for this role.
- Experience participating in and leading multidisciplinary design teams, with strong interaction across technical disciplines, project controls, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Experience leading engineering/design teams of 15 or more people, mix of local based and remote individuals, open to different cultures; resource forecasting, worksharing, priority setting, progress and budget monitoring, and team performance management.
- Strong technical judgement in electrical engineering to guide key decisions, resolve interfaces, manage technical risks, and validate solutions proposed by the team.
- Advanced/fluent English, particularly for coordination with global teams, clients, suppliers, and construction partners.

Required technical judgement

- Electrical systems for mining process plants and infrastructure, with the ability to assess safety, operability, reliability, maintainability, constructability, cost, alternatives, and design decisions.
- HV, MV, and LV power generation and distribution, including substations, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, variable-speed drives, large motors, emergency power, UPS, and grounding systems.
- Review and validation of load lists, power system studies, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, protection philosophies, cable schedules, layouts, routing, and installation details.
- Technical oversight of load flow, short-circuit, motor-starting, protection coordination, arc-flash, harmonic, grounding, and reliability studies, including review of assumptions and design impacts.
- Knowledge of standards and practices applicable to mining electrical systems, such as AEA, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other relevant local regulations, at review and decision-making level rather than only general awareness.

Management and coordination tools

- Engineering and project tracking tools to control deliverables, interfaces, comments, quantities, priorities, commitments, progress, budget, and team workload.
- Familiarity with platforms used by the team—ETAP, Digsilent, AutoCAD, Dialux, Revit, AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant, or equivalent—to oversee calculations, design maturity, model coordination, and deliverable consistency.

Highly valued experience

- Experience with electrical systems for mining process plants, material handling facilities, crushing and grinding circuits, conveyors, pumping systems, and mine infrastructure.
- Experience defining or reviewing mine-wide power supply and distribution strategies, grid connections, substations, and power quality requirements.
- Experience supporting procurement, technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, expediting priorities, and coordination of major electrical equipment packages.
- Experience supporting construction, site technical queries, pre-commissioning, commissioning, energization, and start-up planning.

Expected leadership style

- Drive the team: set direction, follow up, remove blockers, and sustain execution pace.
- Challenge constructively: question criteria, risks, and decisions when needed, while maintaining focus on execution.
- Act proactively: anticipate information needs, planning risks, and interdisciplinary interfaces.
- Be solution-oriented: facilitate decisions, align the team, and seek practical alternatives when facing technical, commercial, or schedule constraints.

If you need any accessibility adjustments, please make sure to mention it in your application.
