Senior Frontend Engineer - Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

We're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join us on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. You'll build and ship high-quality frontend solutions using React and TypeScript, collaborate with globally distributed teams, and play a key role in delivering products that create exceptional experiences for our customers and their employees.

This role is being hired to support a period of parental leave within the team. The contract will remain in place until the completion of the agreed scope of work associated with the cover arrangement and any subsequent handover activities.

Flexible, hybrid working:
Our office is for you to use as much as you like; as a minimum our Delivery team works from our Sofia or Plovdiv (https://careers.rewardgateway.com/our-workspaces) office at least twice a week.

Some of Your Responsibilities & Core Duties will include:

- Build and ship fast, accessible, well-tested user interfaces in React and TypeScript
- Own your code from inception through to support in production
- Architect clean, simple solutions to business requirements
- Collaborate with backend engineers on API design, bringing a clear point of view on what the frontend needs and keeping APIs consistent, scalable and aligned with our architecture standards
- Work closely with designers and product stakeholders so that what we build meets business goals and improves the customer experience
- Help shape requirements and specifications, and flag UX challenges early with alternatives to Product Design
- Champion high-quality code by helping improve and enforce coding standards through thoughtful code review
- Use modern tooling, including AI-assisted development, responsibly to improve speed and quality (confirm this fits your policy)
- Collaborate with globally distributed, multi-disciplinary teams
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation
- Mentor colleagues and share knowledge across the team

The Experience and Key Skills you will have:

- Proven experience as a Frontend Software Engineer, building and delivering production-ready applications using React and TypeScript.
- Strong knowledge and application of software design patterns
- Experience with unit and integration testing, as well as code reviews
- Experience designing and consuming APIs, and the confidence to have an opinion on how they should work
- Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) workflows
- Strong English communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
Nice to have:
- Experience building accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA) interfaces
- Experience working with a design system
- Familiarity with GraphQL
- Familiarity with React Native
- Experience with performance optimisation
- Experience with production monitoring
