Inova Health is looking for a dedicated Server Administrator to join the team. Full-time Monday–Friday work mostly remote and mostly regular daily work hours but some on-call availability is required.

This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in the following states – VA, MD, DC, DE, FL, GA, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV.

Server Administrator Job Responsibilities:

- Resolves problems effectively and efficiently and documents measures taken. Escalates any issues appropriately when necessary. Effectively communicates problems and resolution statuses to all necessary stakeholders, including internal and external customers as well as appropriate. Proactively identifies and implements successful preventive measures including ensuring that possible capacity issues are identified and communicated with sufficient lead time to avoid business impact or disruption. Also ensures timely responses to possible production issues impacting security and system availability that could result in patient safety issues.
- Performs daily system monitoring by verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems/key processes, reviewing system/application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Applies operating system patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrades administrative tools/utilities. Configures new services as necessary. Ensures that all security and vulnerabilities are mitigated/resolved based on the risk level of the vulnerability.
- Ensures proper documentation of policies, procedures and standards on the proper maintenance and recovery of operating systems. Ensures that system software is complete and accurate.
- In conjunction with other IT staff, and consistent with policies/procedures, defines and manages disaster recovery and business continuity standard operating procedures.
- Makes recommendations regarding solutions for projected growth. Manages Windows Server 2003/2008/2012. Manages server security baselines, security patches, mitigation of vulnerabilities , configuration and upgrades.
- Configures CPU, memory and disk partitions as required. Documents configurations, installations, upgrades, backup/recovery, security/operating systems standards and other required information to ensure support and maintenance of system infrastructure, data storage and associated systems.
- Ensures that preventative maintenance activities are performed by following/developing installation, upgrade and/or configuration documentation, following change control procedures, testing changes in non-production environments, developing back-out plans and monitoring infrastructure systems for possible performance issues, security issues, application issues and/or system issues.
- Ensures operating systems and systems software components are properly installed, maintained and supported for multiple platforms. Ensures documentation for all planned and implemented operating systems, systems software implementations and upgrades are complete and accurate including overall workplans, test plans, implementation schedules and blackout/recovery plans.
- Performs daily backup operations while ensuring that all required file systems and system data are successfully backed-up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary, adhering to !nova Health System's enterprise backup solution standards. Ensures system back¬ ups are monitored on a routine basis.
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization as required. Performs account audits, log reviews, system file audits, patch audits, service audits and ports/protocol analysis for servers that must remain operational.
- Supports computing resources including super computer clusters, web applications, client/server tools, database servers, file servers, data management systems and research workstations.
- Assists in the identification, evaluation and testing of potential new technologies and solutions required to meet future business needs. Supports both multi-tier development/test/quality assurance/production environments as well as research/analysis environments – requiring two very different sets of security and management policies/procedures. Ensures team adequately completes testing prior to implementations or upgrades in a production environment.
- Ensures protection of system and data by proactively identifying and deactivating any unnecessary services, ports or protocols on system infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements:

- Education: Bachelor's degree (or 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of degree)
- Experience : 2 years of experience minimum in an enterprise server environment with both administration and problem resolution of Microsoft Windows Server 200312008/2012 and DHCP/DNS/WINS/Citrix/Active Directory management expertise required.
- Certification : Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSE) within six months of hire.
