What You Bring
R equired Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in economics, finance, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (10-15 years) in power market analysis or a similar analytical role within the energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of PJM and/or Eastern Interconnection markets, including electricity pricing, market fundamentals, regulatory frameworks, and policy dynamics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Project management skills are a plus.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, and data modelling. Experience with statistical software (such as Python, R, or MATLAB) and Modelling softwares (such as BID3, Plexos or PSO) is required.
- Demonstrated industry awareness and a track record in the power market domain.
- Knowledge of energy industry trends, renewable energy technologies, and environmental regulations is highly desirable.
The Senior Manager, PJM Modeling and Analysis Lead provides critical insights on nodal market dynamics to optimize investments, support long-term portfolio management, and Corporate PPA teams. As a manager, he or she provides functional leadership for PJM modeling and analysis activities, coordinates internal and external contributors, and presents key insights and recommendations to senior management.
Activities:
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in the US and at Headquarter, including fundamental market analysis, R&D teams, IT & Digital country experts, trading, portfolio management, and regulatory teams, to align market analysis and modelling activities with overall business objectives. Effectively communicate with senior management and other stakeholders to get insights and recommendations. Become an internal reference on local market dynamics.
- Market Analysis, Asset Analysis and Benchmarking: Conduct in-depth analysis of the PJM power market perimeter, including supply-demand-transmission dynamics, price trends, regulatory changes, technology costs. Benchmark internal and external scenarios and be able to explain the differences. Make sure the model is updated with the different scenarios.
- Data Collection and Management: Collect and organize relevant data from various sources, including market reports, databases, and internal systems. Ensure data accuracy and integrity and develop robust methodologies for data analysis and interpretation.
- Model Development and Business Leadership: Lead the development and continuous improvement of accurate models and analytical tools to forecast long-term nodal power market dynamics. Contribute directly to modeling activities while acting as the business lead for the underlying digital products, defining requirements, validating model assumptions and outputs, and managing their roadmap with the development teams.
- Business use cases: run and deliver the different business cases (basis analysis, hourly prices forecasts for asset portfolio, support investment decisions, …). Master the local context (supply, demand, transmission) of TotalEnergies power generation portfolio. Run sensitivities and explain market dynamics to the different stakeholders.
- Industry Awareness: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in the power sector. Participate at industry conferences, events, and regulatory forums. Share market analysis expertise internally, positioning the PJM team as a thought leader in the power market domain.
- Project management: Propose and deliver the roadmap of the PJM Markets modeling activities in the US
