The Global Materials Strategy & Planning Manager translates long-term finished goods and production plans into a single, global material requirements strategy. Acting as the critical link between Global Planning and Procurement, the role creates visibility of future demand, aligns supplier capacity with business needs and unlocks purchasing scale through consolidated demand, strategic volume allocation and long-term supplier agreements.
You will establish a centralised, long-term material planning process, replacing fragmented site-level forecasting with a single source of truth for Procurement and supplier engagement at spend-pool level.
As a key partner to the Director, Global Planning (RCCP & S&OP), you will ensure that material and finished goods capacity, demand and risk insights are embedded in the global S&OP/IBP cycle.
In this role you will…
… build and lead global input material planning, enabling fact-based decisions and long-term supply assurance through clear capacity-to-demand visibility and proactive gap identification using Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP). Working closely with Procurement, you will combine supplier capacity intelligence with Haleon demand insights to anticipate market trends, risks and disruption. You will also develop S&OP/IBP reporting and scenario models, bringing constraints, mitigation options and decision-ready trade-offs into the monthly global S&OP/IBP process.
Key Responsibilities
Material Requirements Translation & Planning
- Translate the long-term finished goods plan (LTCP) into detailed material requirements by spend pool and OU.
- Develop material demand outlooks and scenarios in partnership with Procurement.
- Standardise material planning assumptions and methodologies across the organisation.
Supplier Allocation & Capacity Management
- Partner with Procurement to shape supplier volume allocation strategies where scale creates value.
- Work with suppliers and Procurement teams to align capacity investment and production plans with future demand.
Risk Management
- Lead material allocation strategies across plants, suppliers and regions when supply is constrained.
- Assess sourcing risks and build robust mitigation plans.
- Drive material prioritisation and allocation decisions during supply disruption.
Joint Value Creation
- Partner with Procurement, Manufacturing and Category Planning to identify and eliminate supply chain losses.
- Support strategic planning through S&OP and Integrated Business Planning (IBP).
Success Measures
- Procurement savings delivered through demand aggregation and scale.
- Stronger material availability and supply continuity.
- Improved visibility of future material requirements and stronger framework agreements that reduce material supply chain cost.
- Optimised working capital and inventory.
- Faster, better allocation decisions and reduced supply risk.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred specialisation: Procurement, Business, Finance, Supply Chain or Marketing
- 5+ years’ operational planning experience
- In-depth knowledge of planning processes, particularly within an SAP environment
- Deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain planning
- Significant experience in a global and regional matrix organisation
- Strong networking skills, with a track record of building productive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and business partners
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks across concurrent projects
- Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment and deliver to tight deadlines
- Experience in risk management
- Working knowledge of S&OP/IBP and Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP), with the ability to turn capacity and material constraints into clear decisions and trade-offs
- Strong analytical and scenario-modelling skills, including the ability to build, run and interpret capacity, demand and risk scenarios—such as upside/downside, supply disruption and strategic shifts—and translate them into decision-ready trade-offs
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional, cross-regional teams without formal authority
