Job Title: Business Development Manager Job Description
This mid-level to senior Business Development Manager role focuses on driving new business growth within the MEP, mechanical contracting, industrial construction, and data center markets. The position requires a proven sales professional with a strong existing network in the MEP/data center ecosystem and a track record of opening doors and generating opportunities quickly. You will leverage your industry relationships to expand the customer base and market presence, particularly with organizations supporting data center construction projects, while partnering closely with internal teams to deliver technical product solutions.
Responsibilities
- Drive new business development nationally within the MEP, mechanical contracting, industrial construction, and data center markets.
- Develop and deepen relationships with MEP firms and contractors involved in data center construction projects.
- Expand the customer base and increase market presence by leveraging an existing network and building new strategic relationships.
- Generate qualified sales opportunities through a combination of existing contacts, targeted prospecting, and industry networking.
- Open doors quickly at target accounts and bring immediate credibility through established relationships and industry knowledge.
- Sell technical products and solutions into organizations that support data center construction and related projects.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support customers, align solutions with project requirements, and ensure successful delivery.
- Interpret and discuss construction drawings and specifications with customers and internal teams to support the sales process.
- Travel nationally as needed, approximately 25%50% of the time, to meet with customers, attend industry events, and develop new business.
- Consistently work toward and exceed annual sales goals, including a first-year target in the mid to high six-figure range and increased goals in subsequent years.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of business development or outside sales experience.
- Proven experience selling into MEP, mechanical contracting, industrial construction, or data center markets.
- Existing network within the MEP, mechanical contracting, industrial construction, or data center ecosystem.
- Demonstrated ability to open doors and generate new business opportunities quickly.
- Experience selling into organizations that support data center construction projects.
- Ability to bring established contacts and immediate credibility into target accounts.
- Strong business development skills with a focus on national account growth.
- Willingness and ability to travel 25%50% nationally.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Existing book of business in the MEP or data center construction space.
- Strong network among MEP contractors involved in data center construction.
- Mechanical distribution experience.
- Background in technical product sales.
- Understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Comfort working toward ambitious annual sales targets and commission-based incentives.
- Interest in a direct placement or contract-to-hire arrangement, depending on mutual fit.
Work Environment
This role is based in Denver, with an initial 90-day onsite onboarding and training period to immerse you in the companys products, processes, and culture. After demonstrating success, you may transition to a hybrid work schedule that blends in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility. The position involves national travel approximately 25%50% of the time to visit customers, attend meetings, and develop new business opportunities. You will work closely with engineering and operations teams in a collaborative, sales-driven environment that values initiative, industry relationships, and technical understanding of construction-related products and specifications. The compensation structure includes a competitive commission based on gross profit and a monthly vehicle stipend to support frequent customer visits and travel.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $63.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
