Wenger Corporation | Texas Scenic is seeking motivated Metal Machine Operators to help drive our success! In this role, you will provide an exceptional customer experience by independently operating department machines to meet or exceed quality and production standards. Setup, program, and modify programs on various production equipment as needed. The Metal Machine Operator also leads by example and provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.

We are seeking a Metal Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in San Antonio, Texas!

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Machine Setup, Operation & Programming

- Set up, program, and operate CNC machinery—including lathes, machining centers, saws, edge banders, and other specialized production equipment—based on production requirements.

- Perform program edits or modifications to optimize machine performance and part quality.

- Design or recommend tooling, fixtures, and jaw profiles needed to support machining operations.

Quality & Process Control

- Follow standard work procedures, blueprints, work instructions, and quality standards to ensure accurate and consistent part production.

- Monitor part quality during production, perform in-process inspections, and record quality assurance data as required.

- Troubleshoot production or quality issues, make corrective-action recommendations, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams when needed.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

- Perform basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and setup for optimal performance.

- Monitor equipment performance and notify maintenance or supervision of mechanical issues or irregularities.

- Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to tooling, processes, or equipment reliability.

Production Support & Documentation

- Accurately record production data, complete required documentation, and enter transactions into computer systems.

- Assist with downstream operations such as assembly or packing of finished goods as needed.

- Support cross-training efforts and contribute to workflow flexibility across departments.

Safety, Housekeeping & Compliance

- Follow all corporate policies, shop safety rules, and environmental/chemical handling procedures.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in alignment with 5S and company safety standards.

Collaboration, Training & Continuous Improvement

- Work positively in a team environment, contributing to a culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

- Train, mentor, and support less-experienced operators to build team capability.

- Participate in problem-solving activities, improvement projects, and other initiatives as assigned.

- Perform additional duties as required by management.

Minimum Requirements:

- 5 year experience programming CNC lathes utilizing MasterCAM software.

- Proficiency in operating a range of fabrication and machining equipment.

- Skilled at reading and interpreting technical drawings and detailed work instructions

- Proficient in using precision measuring devices

- Strong troubleshooting skills with keen attention to detail

- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and train team members

- Solid understanding of safety and quality standards in a manufacturing setting

- Capable of setting up, programming, and modifying programs on various production equipment

- Demonstrated experience training and guiding less experienced team members

- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with solid basic math skills

- Comfortable using a variety of hand tools and precision measuring devices

- Willingness and ability to learn and perform multiple tasks within the work area

- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team setting

- Proficient in navigating and using various computer systems and screens

- Flexibility to adjust and plan work around changing schedules

It would be great if you also have:
