Job Title: Support Technician Job Description
The Support Technician performs maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical equipment within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing issues, and collaborating with engineering on machinery design and programming improvements.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance services and repairs on assigned manufacturing equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, replace, and maintain existing mechanical systems and associated equipment, including air compressors, air dryers, dehumidifiers, cooling towers, and related components.
- Facilitate and accurately follow detailed operational instructions, job prints, and setup procedures for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Administer the preventive maintenance system, including planning, scheduling, and documenting activities, and provide required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Determine preventive maintenance requirements for new equipment and develop appropriate maintenance plans and schedules.
- Educate and train equipment operators to perform routine maintenance and basic care on their machines.
- Maintain a safe and effective work area by following safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Support the broader Facilities function as needed, contributing to the upkeep and reliability of building systems and infrastructure.
- Work with engineering teams on the design and programming of machinery to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot and assist with programming of PLC-controlled machinery to resolve equipment issues and optimize operation.
- Recognize and solve typical equipment and process problems using established operating procedures and scientific methods.
- Read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints to diagnose issues and perform accurate repairs.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing engineering or manufacturing team environment supporting manufacturing equipment.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and associated equipment such as air compressors, air dryers, dehumidifiers, and cooling towers.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills for production and facility equipment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical components and equipment used in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
- Capability to recognize and solve typical equipment problems using established operating procedures and scientific methods.
- Experience troubleshooting and programming PLC machinery or working closely with PLC-based systems.
- Ability to follow detailed operational instructions and job prints with a high degree of accuracy.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work area and using appropriate personal protective equipment.

- Experience collaborating with engineering teams on machinery design and programming improvements.
- Background in administering preventive maintenance systems and generating maintenance reports.
- Experience training equipment operators on routine maintenance and basic equipment care.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively to cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing and industrial environment, working directly with production machinery and facility systems. Work hours depend on the building assignment and may follow schedules such as 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility required to work on machines that are down. The position involves frequent interaction with mechanical and electromechanical equipment, including air compressors, air dryers, dehumidifiers, and cooling towers, as well as PLC-controlled machinery. The work requires consistent use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety procedures. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Simi Valley, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
