Job Title: Pharmacist Job Description
The Pharmacist will verify prescriptions and medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness while ensuring full compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations. This role actively supports pharmacy technicians, manages daily workflow, and contributes to efficient pharmacy operations. The Pharmacist communicates closely with healthcare providers, facility staff, patients, and caregivers, participates in quality assurance and medication safety initiatives, and assists with specialty pharmacy services, including IV operations when applicable.
Responsibilities
- Verify prescriptions and medication orders for clinical appropriateness, accuracy, completeness, and potential interactions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Support pharmacy technicians by providing clear guidance, oversight, and assistance with complex tasks.
- Assist with workflow management to maintain timely and efficient day-to-day pharmacy operations.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with healthcare providers, facility staff, patients, and caregivers to clarify orders, resolve issues, and provide medication-related information.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and medication safety initiatives to reduce errors and improve patient outcomes.
- Support inventory control by helping to monitor stock levels, manage expirations, and promote proper storage and handling of medications.
- Contribute to process improvement and operational efficiency efforts by identifying opportunities for optimization and implementing best practices.
- Assist with specialty pharmacy services, including IV operations when applicable, following all relevant protocols and safety standards.
Essential Skills
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve medication-related issues accurately.
- Critical thinking skills to assess complex medication regimens and make sound clinical judgments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for effective interaction with healthcare professionals, staff, patients, and caregivers.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Leadership mentality with a willingness to mentor, support, and collaborate with team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in long-term care, closed-door, specialty, or hospital pharmacy is a plus but not required.
- Comfort working within structured workflows and participating in continuous process improvement.
Work Environment
This is a first-shift position, typically working from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend shifts rotate, with weekend hours generally from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role includes participation in an on-call rotation approximately every 5 to 7 weeks and rotating holiday coverage. The pharmacy operates in a fast-paced healthcare environment with a focus on accuracy, safety, and efficient service. The setting may include closed-door and specialty pharmacy operations, as well as IV services when applicable.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Chester, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
