About this role

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of patient, family, community, and team member advisory programs across ECU Health. This role serves as a liaison between patients, families, advisors, clinical teams, operational leaders, and community stakeholders to ensure the patient and family perspective is integrated into organizational decision-making, quality improvement, patient experience initiatives, and strategic priorities. This team member leads advisor recruitment, onboarding, engagement, performance monitoring, committee placement, and program development activities while supporting system-wide Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs), advisor rounding programs, patient support initiatives, focus groups, and special projects designed to improve the patient, family, and team member experience.
Responsibilities
Advisor Recruitment, Onboarding, and Engagement

Conducts recruitment, screening, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing engagement of Patient and Family Advisors (PFAs), PFAC Partners, Community Advisors, focus group participants, and team member advisory participants. Matches advisor strengths, interests, lived experiences, and availability with organizational needs and strategic initiatives.

PFAC Program Administration

Coordinates and supports local and system-level Patient and Family Advisory Councils, ensuring consistent processes, advisor participation, meeting facilitation, documentation, and follow-up of action items. Maintains council operations and supports sustainability of advisory partnerships across the health system.

Committee and Project Integration

Partners with executives, operational leaders, clinicians, and departments to identify opportunities for advisor engagement on committees, councils, improvement teams, quality initiatives, patient education projects, operational workgroups, and strategic priorities. Maintains inventory of advisor participation and identifies opportunities to expand patient and family representation.

Strategic Program Development

Develops, implements, and evaluates programs that strengthen patient and family engagement, including advisor rounding activities, storytelling initiatives, community engagement efforts, and emerging patient partnership opportunities.

Advisor Rounding and Peer Support Programs

Coordinates patient and family advisor rounding activities and peer-support initiatives, including workflow development, participant training, program evaluation, and collaboration with operational leaders to improve patient experience outcomes.

Performance Improvement and Standardization

Supports quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives related to patient and family engagement. Develops and monitors program metrics, dashboards, action plans, standard operating procedures, and outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness and ensure consistency across the organization.

Meeting Facilitation and Program Coordination

Develops agendas, facilitates meetings, records minutes, manages action plans, and coordinates follow-up activities for advisory councils, subcommittees, focus groups, liaison meetings, and special workgroups.

Data Management and Reporting

Maintains advisor databases, communication platforms, participation records, and engagement tracking systems using SharePoint, Microsoft 365 applications, Smartsheet, Excel, and other approved software. Produces reports, dashboards, and analyses for operational and executive leadership.

Communications and Outreach

Develops and distributes newsletters, educational materials, reports, presentations, outreach communications, and promotional resources designed to increase awareness and participation in advisory programs. Represents ECU Health at meetings, events, tours, workshops, and speaking engagements.

Relationship Management and Consultation

Serves as a subject matter resource on patient and family engagement strategies, advisor integration, shared decision-making, and community partnership practices. Consults with leaders and teams regarding advisor placement, engagement planning, and best practices for incorporating the patient and family voice into organizational initiatives.

Student and Professional Development Coordination

Coordinates internships, student experiences, observations, and educational opportunities supporting patient experience, advisory programs, and healthcare leadership development.

Administrative Operations

Performs administrative duties including calendar management, meeting logistics, travel coordination, budget tracking, communication management, record retention, purchasing support, and other operational responsibilities necessary for program success.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree required.

Master's degree preferred.

Minimum 1 year experience leading advisory councils, volunteer programs, patient engagement initiatives, community engagement programs, and quality improvement projects.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, and data management platforms required.

Regional travel to ECU Health facilities is required.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate ability to build relationships with patients, families, community members, clinicians, and organizational leaders.  They must also have experience facilitating groups, committees, and collaborative work teams and be comfortable speaking to medium to large groups of people in meeting settings, via web-conference or in person.

Experience with project management, performance improvement methodologies, data analysis, and report preparation preferred.
Pay Range
$22.42 - $32.68
