IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Minneapolis, MN, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex electrical-system projects. This role also leads design efforts with limited support from senior staff for larger, high-complexity projects.
You will work with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients, while managing project budgets, supporting training and mentoring, and collaborating across functions. The team supports healthcare and MEP work, including education and healthcare projects, while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
Technical Path
· Lead electrical-system analysis and develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools.
· Perform site assessments and prepare analysis and technical reports.
· Gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships.
· Conduct in-process design reviews and implement quality control processes.
· Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
· Provide technical assistance to resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff.
· Stay current on electrical engineering trends and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts.
· Prioritize safety and mitigate potential electrical-system safety risks.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
· Participate in project interviews and presentations.
OR
Project Management Path
· Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects of varying size and complexity.
· Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes, fee calculations, proposal generation, and contract reviews.
· Create project schedules with milestone targets and deadlines.
· Serve as the point of contact for project teams and clients.
· Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages.
· Ensure designs meet owner, IMEG, and code requirements and that quality control and construction technical support are completed on time.
· Coordinate project scheduling across design and construction phases, lead progress meetings, and document meetings.
· Conduct construction site visits and provide requested documentation.
· Resolve client and construction concerns, manage change orders, and obtain approvals.
· Train, mentor, motivate staff, and build client relationships.

· Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems

· Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path

Education and Experience
· Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
· Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
· 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
· Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
· Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
· Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
· Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
· Strong training and mentoring skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
· Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
About the Team
· Broad MEP-focused portfolio with a strong emphasis on education and healthcare work. It is especially active in HVAC and electrical design, along with plumbing, fire protection, and construction administration on more coordinated project efforts.
· The team also shows a meaningful amount of assessment, study, and survey work, plus selective technology, commissioning, energy modeling, and master planning when projects need a wider planning or renovation scope. Overall, the team is strongest in building systems upgrades, renovation support, and facility study work across institutional and healthcare environments.
· Recent work includes UH BMH/PHARMACY/RENOVATION, Healthcare, and IUPUI/MULTI-BUILDING/HVAC STUDY, Education.

State of Minnesota Salary Range: $101,000-$141,000 per year
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
