Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS Generalist) Location: Thousand Oaks, CA Department: Clinical Laboratory Services Schedule: Full-Time | Overnight Shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM) | Alternating Weekends Position Summary We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join a growing laboratory team focused on delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic testing. This position is responsible for specimen processing, laboratory testing, result reporting, quality control activities, and maintaining compliance with CLIA and CAP standards. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented CLS Generalist with strong experience in clinical laboratory operations, immunoassays, hematology, microbiology, and molecular testing methodologies. Working in a collaborative biotechnology and biomedical environment, you will support diagnostic and research initiatives that directly impact patient care and clinical decision-making. This role offers valuable exposure to advanced laboratory technologies, including NGS library preparation, while providing opportunities for professional growth and continued technical development. Required Qualifications & Skills
- Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist License
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline
- Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, laboratory quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Experience performing qualitative and quantitative testing on clinical specimens
- Understanding of laboratory quality control, documentation, and compliance procedures
- Proficiency with specimen processing, test analysis, and result reporting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Ability to work the assigned overnight schedule and alternating weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory, biotechnology, biomedical, or diagnostic laboratory setting
- Experience with immunoassays, ELISA assays, hematology, microbiology, and molecular biology techniques
- Experience performing NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) library preparation
- Familiarity with laboratory audits, inspections, and compliance reporting
- Experience with SOP-driven laboratory operations
- Open to entry-level candidates holding a CLS Generalist License
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing and procedures in accordance with CLIA and CAP requirements
- Process clinical specimens and ensure accurate test performance and result reporting
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of blood, urine, and other clinical samples
- Perform immunoassay, hematology, microbiology, and molecular laboratory testing as assigned
- Prepare and optimize NGS library preparation workflows for clinical specimens
- Accurately document laboratory results, quality control activities, and testing procedures
- Collect, review, and record data in accordance with established SOPs
- Monitor testing quality and maintain adherence to laboratory compliance standards
- Collaborate with laboratory leadership regarding ongoing testing activities and workflow priorities
- Support internal and external audit activities and report compliance concerns when identified
- Assist with laboratory documentation, record maintenance, and administrative tasks
- Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives within the laboratory

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
