Job Description The QA/QC Specialist oversees supplier and FAA quality activities for mechanical hardware, ensuring that all incoming parts and documentation meet stringent technical and compliance standards. This role manages the full lifecycle of First Article Approvals, performs hands-on mechanical inspections, and collaborates closely with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to maintain a reliable and accurate part qualification pipeline. Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of First Article Approvals (FAAs), including constructing FAA packages, thoroughly reviewing supplier-submitted documentation, writing FAA reports, and maintaining accurate records in the ERP system.
- Evaluate technical compliance of FAAs and exercise independent decision-making authority to formally accept or reject submissions based on established requirements.
- Lead initiatives to resolve and clear administrative backlog within the part qualification pipeline, ensuring timely progression of parts through the approval process.
- Perform incoming inspections, dimensional checks, and qualification testing on mechanical parts when required to verify compliance with specifications.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, technical specifications, GD&T standards, and CMM reports to confirm that parts meet all design and quality requirements.
- Set up and operate precision mechanical measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and pin gauges to perform accurate measurements.
- Identify and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate dispositions with engineering and quality teams to ensure appropriate corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, and quality stakeholders to resolve quality issues, improve supplier performance, and maintain consistent quality standards.
- Maintain meticulous documentation and data integrity for all quality activities, inspections, and approvals within the ERP system.
- Support continuous improvement of quality processes related to supplier quality, part qualification, and inspection practices.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in a Quality Specialist, Quality Assurance Engineer, or Supplier Quality role, or equivalent experience as an advanced engineering co-op student with strong technical documentation experience, specifically focused on mechanical hardware.
- Foundational, hands-on experience as a Mechanical Technician, Quality Control Inspector, or in a similar role, providing a practical understanding of physical part inspection and manufacturing processes.
- Extremely strong proficiency in reading, interpreting, and analyzing complex mechanical drawings and engineering schematics.
- Expert knowledge of strict Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and the ability to apply them in inspection and part qualification.
- Ability to interpret and work with CMM inspection reports to verify part compliance.
- Deep, hands-on proficiency with precision mechanical measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and height gauges.
- Demonstrated ability to review supplier quality documentation and confidently make independent accept or reject decisions on FAAs.
- Experience using ERP systems to manage quality data and documentation, with familiarity in NetSuite preferred.
- High attention to detail and strong administrative organization skills to manage documentation, records, and quality workflows.
- Effective cross-functional communication skills to collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field with a strong focus on mechanical hardware.
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control practices in a mechanical manufacturing or hardware environment.
- Experience in data entry and documentation within quality systems, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Familiarity with identifying and documenting Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and supporting disposition activities.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities within the part qualification pipeline, and drive tasks to completion.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze technical issues and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
Work Environment This is a fully on-site role in a hands-on mechanical and quality-focused environment. You will work directly with mechanical parts, precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and height gauges, and use ERP systems, with NetSuite as the preferred platform, to manage quality data and documentation. The position involves close collaboration with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams in a setting that emphasizes accuracy, technical rigor, and structured processes for part qualification and supplier quality.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
