Microsoft 365 Data Security Consultant
Location: Downtown Houston, TX — onsite Monday–Friday
Employment: Contract | Immediate start
We are looking for a consultant to help strengthen data security across Microsoft 365. The work includes implementing Microsoft Purview controls, improving DLP policies, and supporting identity and access security.
Responsibilities
• Review existing data protection controls and recommend improvements.
• Configure sensitivity labels, data classification, encryption, and automated labeling.
• Implement and fine-tune DLP policies for Microsoft 365 applications and employee devices.
• Review alerts, resolve policy issues, and reduce unnecessary notifications.
• Assist with Entra ID access controls, permissions, and access reviews.
• Maintain clear documentation and coordinate with security and IT teams.
Required Experience
• 5+ years in cybersecurity, including 3+ years working directly with Microsoft Purview and DLP.
• Hands-on experience deploying data protection policies in an enterprise Microsoft 365 environment.
• Understanding of Entra ID and identity and access management.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Defender security tools.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with clients.
Preferred
Microsoft security certification, PowerShell experience, or experience supporting regulated industries.
