About this role
We are hiring up to three Product Managers with expertise in Shipping, Drilling or Procurement
This is what we are building
At Star Information Systems, we develop STAR EAM™ , a leading digital workspace for operations, maintenance and procurement in maritime and offshore companies, with customers around the world. We want to make daily work simpler and safer for the people who operate vessels and critical assets, with less time spent on administration, manual registration and regulatory follow-up. Our products connect vessels, fleet organisations, suppliers, class and authorities. Using AI and close collaboration with our customers, we build new requirements into the products without adding work for the users.
About the role
Thousands of users plan maintenance, carry out inspections, buy parts and services and document compliance in our products. We are looking for experienced professionals who want to shape how that work is done. You will own your own modules and become a key expert in product development within your area.
You report to the CPSO and work closely with the other product managers, the developers and customers who develop the products together with us. The role is customer-facing and commercial: you take part in sales meetings and implementations, and show customers what STAR EAM™ can do for them.
About the product team
The STAR EAM™ product team is led by the CPSO and includes product managers responsible for areas such as maintenance, QHSE, technical data and procurement. We work closely with development teams in Norway, Turkey, North Macedonia and Singapore. Star Information Systems has offices in Norway, Denmark, the UK, Italy, Brazil, Malaysia, Turkey, North Macedonia and Singapore.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for up to three people with experience from one of these areas:
• Shipping and fleet management: sea-going experience as engineer or deck officer and fleet management ashore, for example as technical superintendent
• Drilling, FPSO and oil and gas: for example as drilling manager, toolpusher, OIM, operations manager or maintenance manager, with good knowledge of regulations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf
• Procurement: for example as procurement manager or category manager in shipping, offshore or other heavy industry
What we're looking for
Your experience may come from operations, engineering or advisory roles, for example with a shipping company, offshore operator, classification society, equipment supplier or consultancy.
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Maintenance and technical operations: maintenance strategy, condition-based maintenance, RCM and reliability, spare parts management, dry-docking and turnarounds
- QHSE and compliance: safety management under ISM and ISO standards, non-conformities, incidents, audits, risk assessments, vetting and barrier management
- Procurement and supply chain: category management, contracts and framework agreements, supplier management, catalogues and master data, services procurement and logistics
You are motivated by building products that make work easier for users and have extensive industry experience, ideally 15 years or more. Experience as a user of maintenance or procurement systems is highly valued. Good English is required. For the drilling and oil & gas domain, fluent Norwegian is required.
It is also an advantage if you have experience from sales, advisory work or account management, product development, software implementation, digitalisation projects, or experience as a super user. Experience with, or interest in, AI and agentic development is a plus.
Responsibilities
• Own and develop your own modules, with responsibility for backlog, priorities and release plan
• Map how customers work, and lead development together with them through workshops, prototypes and pilots
• Write requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, and work closely with the developers
• Present the products and their possibilities to customers and prospects, and support sales, proposals and implementation with domain expertise
• Follow up testing, roll-out and adoption at customers
• Advise management and the product team on direction within your domain
In your application
We put most weight on motivation and domain knowledge. If you have a background we have not described, but believe it fits, we would like to hear from you. Feel free to describe a problem in a system you have used at work, and how you would solve it.
Personal qualities
• Structured and analytical
• Curious about how users work
• Willing to prioritise and make decisions, even when that means saying no
• Commercially minded, and confident with customers, engineers and operational staff
We offer
• Reporting directly to the CPSO
• The chance to see your own ideas put to use by customers
• Hands-on work with AI and agentic development
• An international environment with customers and colleagues in many countries
• Competitive terms
