About this role

The Community Health Medical Director for Duke Health is a physician or advanced practice provider in Duke University Health System’s Office of Community Health. In partnership with the Chief Community Health & Social Impact Officer, the Medical Director provides strategic clinical counsel and helps advance Duke Health’s work to connect care, community, and opportunity. This role combines part-time leadership with part-time clinical effort and is open to both physician and advanced practice provider applicants.

The Medical Director convenes, aligns, and helps elevate community health priorities across Duke Health, ensuring that the work is clinically credible, community-informed, data-informed, and aligned with enterprise strategy. This role works through influence and partnership—not duplication of the responsibilities held by clinical departments, Population Health Management Office (PHMO), Duke Primary Care, Duke Health Integrated Practice (DHIP), hospitals, or academic units.
