Senior Expert - HR Reporting and Data Analytics

Strengthens the organization's HR reporting and data analytics capability through senior specialist ownership of reporting governance, analytics, Workday dashboard development, automation opportunities, self-service enablement, and stakeholder advisory support. Translates business questions into secure, reliable, reusable, and decision-relevant reporting solutions while improving data quality and supporting informed workforce decisions.

YOUR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Tasks

- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of complex HR reporting solutions, including intake, requirements, design, build, testing, security validation, deployment, documentation, adoption, maintenance, and retirement.
- Establish and apply reporting governance standards covering demand intake, prioritization, report ownership, naming, documentation, KPI definitions, security, privacy, testing, certification, performance, and lifecycle management.
- Assess existing standard reports, dashboards, and approved data products before initiating new development; promote reuse and rationalize duplicate, obsolete, or low-value reporting content.
- Design, develop, and enhance advanced Workday reports, calculated fields, dashboards, Discovery Boards, alerts, and scheduled outputs aligned with business needs and enterprise standards.
- Translate stakeholder questions into clear analytical requirements, including the intended decision, audience, measures, data definitions, frequency, security, and success criteria.
- Develop and interpret workforce metrics, trends, and insights; communicate assumptions, limitations, risks, and recommendations through clear data storytelling and visualization.
- Act as a trusted advisor on reporting options and platform fit across Workday reporting and dashboards, HR Data Hub, Databricks, Power BI, and other approved analytics solutions, in coordination with architecture and technology partners.
- Identify and lead automation opportunities that reduce manual extracts, spreadsheet dependency, recurring effort, duplicate activity, and avoidable ad hoc demand.
- Expand governed self-service reporting through reusable solutions, appropriate access, report scheduling, user guidance, walkthroughs, job aids, and capability-building activities.
- Lead reporting data-quality controls, reconciliations, and root-cause analysis; ensure issues, decisions, ownership, and corrective actions are documented and traceable.
- Lead cross-functional reporting and analytics initiatives and provide technical coaching, design review, and complex problem-solving support to report writers and analysts.
- Evaluate Workday releases and approved AI-enabled or digital capabilities for relevant reporting and analytics use cases while maintaining human judgment, confidentiality, privacy, and internal controls.

Secondary Tasks

- Monitor report usage, performance, accuracy, adoption, and value; coordinate controlled enhancement, migration, or retirement of reporting solutions.
- Contribute to reporting playbooks, knowledge articles, data dictionaries, training materials, release readiness, and communities of practice.
- Partner with HR Technology, Data Governance, Privacy, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Audit, and data-platform teams on data lineage, integrations, controls, and platform handoffs.

Guidance & Problem Solving

- Guidance Required: Very little. Works independently within enterprise standards and seeks strategic input for high-impact priorities, material risks, investment decisions, or cross-platform architecture matters.
- Level of Problem Solving: High. Resolves complex reporting, analytics, data, security, performance, governance, and stakeholder issues while balancing immediate business needs with standardization, reuse, controls, user experience, and long-term sustainability.

Workday Knowledge & Experience

- Required: Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with relevant Workday capabilities, including:
- Advanced, matrix, composite, and transposed reports; standard and custom reports
- Calculated fields, business objects, data sources, dashboards, Discovery Boards, alerts, and report scheduling
- Workday HCM core data model, role-based security, testing, documentation, performance optimization, and release management
- Data-quality and validation reporting, reconciliations, audit reporting, and reporting inventory maintenance
- Working knowledge of Workday Prism Analytics and the wider reporting ecosystem, including Power BI, Databricks or data-lake concepts, integrations, semantic models, and data lineage

WHO YOU ARE

- Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Information Systems, Data and Analytics, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. Typically 5-8 years of HR reporting, HRIS, data, or analytics experience, including significant hands-on Workday reporting experience.

- Core Competencies: Reporting governance; requirements analysis; workforce analytics; data visualization and storytelling; data quality and controls; stakeholder consulting; facilitation; project leadership; coaching; change enablement; influence without authority; and clear communication with technical and nontechnical audiences.

Ways of Working

- Leads through expertise, ownership, coaching, and influence rather than formal people management.
- Starts with the business question and intended decision before selecting a report, dashboard, or platform.
- Promotes best-of-suite solutions, standardization, reuse, one source of truth, and governed self-service before customization or manual workarounds.
- Balances speed and stakeholder experience with data quality, privacy, security, controls, and maintainability.
- Works end to end across functions, regions, systems, and delivery teams and makes assumptions, dependencies, and limitations transparent.
- Continuously simplifies and improves reporting services through automation, portfolio rationalization, adoption, and capability building.
