Bring your Occupational Therapy expertise in neurodivergence and child and youth mental health to a highly specialised role where your assessment, formulation and clinical recommendations can make a meaningful difference for young people and their families.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Grade 3 Occupational Therapist to join the Endeavour Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Team within Monash Health’s Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS). This ongoing specialist role is 0.2 EFT (1 day per week), and has a strong assessment focus, working with infants, children and young people presenting with complex neurodevelopmental, behavioural and mental health needs.

You will provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment, formulation, recommendations and reports, drawing on your understanding of occupational performance, participation, sensory processing and motor development. Working alongside a multidisciplinary specialist team, you will also have the opportunity to:

- Contribute to specialist neurodevelopmental assessments

- Provide therapeutic assessment and feedback to young people and families

- Provide secondary consultation to clinicians and community agencies

- Share your OT expertise in neurodiversity and mental health across ICYAMHWS

- Contribute to clinical innovation, education and research initiatives.

About the Endeavour Team

The Endeavour Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Team is a specialist assessment and consultation service supporting young people with complex neurological, developmental, behavioural and psychiatric presentations. The team works with young people experiencing neurodivergence including autism, ADHD, intellectual developmental disability, learning, motor and communication disorders, tic disorders and neurological conditions.

Many young people referred to Endeavour also experience co-occurring mental health concerns and complex psychosocial factors, making this an opportunity to work at the intersection of mental health, neurodevelopment and occupational functioning.

About You

You are an experienced Occupational Therapist who enjoys complex assessment, collaborative practice and bringing an OT perspective to understanding how a young person participates and functions in everyday life. You will bring:

- experience working in mental health and/or a relevant area such as paediatrics or child and youth services

- demonstrated experience completing high-quality Occupational Therapy assessments with children and young people

- strong clinical reasoning, formulation and report-writing skills

- knowledge and experience in neurodivergence and child and youth mental health

- confidence working independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team

- the ability to provide clear recommendations and advice to young people, families, carers and clinicians

- a commitment to evidence-based practice and maintaining contemporary clinical knowledge.

Experience in specialist neurodevelopmental assessment, or a willingness to develop your skills in assessment approaches such as ADOS or MIGDAS-2, will be highly regarded.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to bring your Occupational Therapy expertise to a highly specialised area of child and youth mental health. At Endeavour, you’ll work alongside experienced clinicians who value the distinct contribution OT brings to understanding neurodevelopment, participation and everyday functioning. You’ll have the opportunity to deepen your specialist assessment skills, contribute to complex clinical formulation and share your expertise across the broader ICYAMHWS service.

With one ongoing day per week, this role may also complement an existing clinical position while giving you the opportunity to develop further expertise in neurodevelopmental psychiatry.

If you’re passionate about neurodiversity, mental health and helping young people and families better understand their strengths and support needs, we’d love to hear from you.
