About this role
About SAGE PREP
At SAGE PREP, we believe young children are capable of more than the world often expects of them. Our classrooms honor learning through play, and then we go further: journal writing, rich academic vocabulary, and a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy. We are looking for a Director who will carry that vision into every classroom, every family conversation, and every staff meeting.
Who You Are
You are a vibrant, hands-on leader who brings energy into the building and keeps it there. You think ahead, plan strategically, and take initiative without waiting to be asked. When challenges come up, and in early learning they always do, you show up with solutions instead of excuses. You stay flexible, adapt quickly, and remain calm and friendly under pressure. You balance an inventive mind with practical, get-it-done judgment.
You have been in the classroom yourself, so you lead with credibility. You communicate clearly in person and in writing, you are comfortable giving a tour to a prospective family, and you know that excellent customer service is part of excellent education.
What You’ll Do
• Lead, supervise, and coach our teacher-leaders and support staff
• Partner with teacher-leaders to build programs and learning plans that meet state and federal guidelines and exceed family expectations
• Develop, review, and strengthen lesson plans to maintain instructional excellence
• Conduct classroom observations and give meaningful feedback on teacher-leader performance
• Recruit, hire, and onboard new staff, ensuring all background checks and fingerprinting are complete
• Plan and facilitate professional development and staff trainings
• Run productive staff meetings
• Establish policies and communicate them clearly to staff and families
• Meet with families and staff to discuss scholar progress
• Support staff in communicating effectively with families and children
• Write engaging family newsletters
• Give tours and build relationships that attract new families to SAGE PREP
• Prepare budgets and allocate program funds responsibly
• Ensure facilities and materials are clean, safe, and maintained to state and center standards
What You Bring
Required
• Completion of 40 hours of director’s training
• Prior classroom teaching experience
• Proven leadership experience
• Strong understanding of child development and preschool educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for early learning settings
• Excellent communication, coaching, and customer service skills
• Ability to partner with families and community members for the benefit of every scholar
• Current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
• Director Certification or a degree in Early Childhood Education
• At least 2 years of experience in a Quality Rated program
• Experience in a CACFP setting
