About this role
About SAGE PREP
At SAGE PREP, we believe children are capable of more than the world often expects of them. Our after school program gives elementary scholars a place to finish strong: support with assignments, rich learning experiences, and a safe, joyful space to grow with friends. We are looking for an After School Teacher who will make every afternoon count.
Who You Are
You love children and genuinely enjoy the energy of elementary-aged scholars. You are cool-tempered, friendly, and dependable, the kind of person scholars trust and colleagues can count on. You balance an inventive mind with practical judgment, so your activities are both creative and well-organized. When disagreements come up between scholars, you stay calm and help them work it out. You show up on time, ready to lead from the moment scholars walk through the door.
What You’ll Do
Program Planning and Instruction
• Plan and lead a creative, well-structured program designed for elementary scholars in grades K through 5
• Support scholars in completing homework and assignments, reinforcing strong reading, writing, and math skills
• Use a variety of teaching methods, including storytelling, educational games, hands-on projects, and media, to keep scholars engaged
Social and Emotional Growth
• Observe each scholar and help them build social skills, confidence, and self-esteem
• Encourage positive peer interaction and guide scholars through conflicts respectfully
Safety and Supervision
• Provide active supervision at all times, including during transitions, outdoor play, and dismissal
• Maintain a clean, organized learning environment that meets health and safety standards
Family and Team Communication
• Greet families warmly and share positive daily updates at pickup
• Share observations and concerns about scholars with the Director or Assistant Director, who lead progress conversations with families
• Collaborate with fellow educators and school leadership to create a safe, fun learning environment
What You Bring
Required
• A genuine love for children
• Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school, after school, camp, or childcare setting
• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Ability to mediate conflicts calmly and fairly
• Familiarity with classroom safety and sanitation guidelines
• Dependability and punctuality
• Current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting
Preferred
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Georgia teaching certificate, or coursework in education or a related field
• Experience supporting K-5 literacy and math skills
