An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join our Structures Design Team at Hampshire County Council.
As a forward-thinking in-house business unit, our Hampshire Engineering Services grouping offers a range of services to the County Council and other public authorities. We provide design, project management and financial/contract management services from early stages of a project through to supervision of actual construction.
The Role:
Our Structures Design Team is looking to recruit a skilled and experienced Project Engineer for the Structures Section Team. In your role, you will be responsible for the project management and design of a wide variety of bridge maintenance, strengthening and replacement schemes, as well as the inspection and assessment of bridges and other highway structures.
What you’ll do:
We have a great team environment and enable those with ambition to reach their full potential. You will be working on ambitious and challenging bridge design and maintenance schemes that have a direct and positive impact on the area where you live and work.
We have recently completed a £5.5M bridge replacement scheme in the New Forest, an integral two span continuous steel composite deck bridge (£26M), a £25M refurbishment scheme of 4 major structures spanning the River Test and Network Rail tracks, and several small bridge and footbridge deck strengthening and replacement schemes (£100k to £1M). Future work includes among others, a multi-million-pound railway footbridge replacement project and refurbishment of a 33 span concrete bridge.
What we’re looking for:
You will have extensive post-graduate experience in the design and construction of bridges and highway structures and will ideally be a chartered civil or structural engineer. Experience in the management and mentoring of junior staff would also be an advantage. You should have an excellent working knowledge of relevant design standards (Eurocodes), construction methods and contract procedures.
Why join us?
Our benefits package includes details of the holiday entitlement, pension scheme, flexi-time scheme, family friendly policies and interest free travel loans and discounts. We offer a flexible, motivating and inclusive workplace. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of, where you are empowered to be your best and a workplace built on teamwork where people can grow and develop in their roles.
