About this role

About the job

In this position, you will lead the engineering of Nordic's development tools, covering both software and hardware tools. The role is accountable for delivering the tools roadmap with high quality, predictable releases, and an engineering organization that can scale. The role is a member of the leadership team for Marketing & Developer Experience, and owns the engineering delivery for the tools roadmap set together with the Product Managers for Software Tools and Hardware tools. You will lead a multi-site organization and work closely with the business units, the SDK and firmware teams, Digital Experience, Technical Documentation, IT, and Technical Marketing.

Key responsibilities

- Leading the Development Tools engineering organization across software and hardware tools, and holding a seat in the leadership team for Marketing & Developer Experience contributing to priorities beyond the department's own remit
- Owning engineering delivery of the tools roadmap and working with the Product Managers to turn product priorities into an executable engineering plan
- Setting the technical direction and architecture for Nordic's tools portfolio, including shared components, common frameworks and a consistent tools platform across desktop, mobile, web and command-line
- Driving the adoption of AI in the tools portfolio (for example AI-assisted development, MCP servers and agent integrations) and in the team's own engineering practice
- Building up and integrating the Kraków engineering site together with existing teams in Norway, and ensuring the multi-site organization works as one team
- Coordinating with the business units, SDK and firmware teams so that tools support new products and SoCs at launch
- Defining and reporting engineering KPIs, for example release predictability, quality, defect trends and developer satisfaction

Key Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent within computer science, software engineering, electronics engineering or a related field
- Extensive experience in software or embedded engineering, with several years of experience in engineering leadership, including leading managers
- Proven experience leading multi-site engineering organizations, ideally across countries
- Experience delivering developer tools, IDEs, SDKs or developer platforms used by external customers
- Software architecture for desktop, mobile, web and command-line applications
- Modern engineering practice: CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, release management and secure development
- Working knowledge of embedded development workflows: toolchains, build systems, debuggers, programmers and IDEs (for example VS Code)
- Understanding of AI-assisted development tools, LLM integrations and MCP
- Understanding of hardware product development, including PCB design, manufacturing and test

Leadership Qualities

At Nordic we look for leaders with a passion and ability to lead and develop both people and high-performing teams, empowering others to succeed and grow while creating value for Nordic. You create clarity, communicate the bigger picture, and set direction and priorities the team can act on.

Just as important is how you handle yourself. Self-awareness and a drive to continuously develop yourself as a leader is important, alongside strong business acumen. You take ownership of outcomes and dependencies, acting as a role model for Nordic values through proactive, creative leadership that drives best-in-class solutions. You make trade-offs and decisions explicit and visible rather than letting them stay implicit and managed quietly.

You let the overall best interests of Nordic guide your decision-making, while keeping both short- and long-term perspectives in mind. Deep technical or domain credibility matters, but what we’re hiring for is the ability to build capability in others and the organization around you, including building a talent pool and pipeline and attracting industry-leading talent.

Working for Nordic
