About Our Family
We’re a warm, busy family living on a 10-acre property in rural Iowa. With two young children, a home-based business, demanding work schedules, and plenty happening around the property, life is full, and the little things can quickly add up! We love our home and the life we've built here, but we've reached the point where we need real, consistent support to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
One parent works remotely full-time, while the other runs a business and travels frequently during the warmer months. Between family life, work, and the everyday responsibilities of running a household, we’re looking for someone who can bring a little more breathing room to our days.
Our home is lived-in and continually evolving, with ongoing projects and the rhythms of family life unfolding around us. We value integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, and someone who takes genuine pride in their work. We want to find a person who can become a reliable, natural part of our household routine, someone who makes a meaningful difference without needing to be asked at every turn.
This role is starting part-time, with the potential for additional hours and a broader scope of support as our family's needs evolve.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For
You’re proactive, organized, and naturally notice the little things that need attention. You enjoy making a busy household run more smoothly, from sorting mail and assisting with laundry to handling returns and keeping everyday tasks on track.
You enjoy making mealtimes easier for a busy family by planning weekly dinners, checking what ingredients are already on hand, and coordinating grocery shopping. You’re comfortable batch-prepping ingredients and meal components in advance so the family can enjoy varied, home-cooked dinners with less day-to-day stress.
You’re independent, self-directed, and confident managing your time and priorities. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of responsibilities, recognize what needs to be done, and keep things moving without needing frequent instructions or check-ins. You know when to use your judgment, when to communicate, and how to adapt as priorities change while respecting the family’s preferences and routines. Experience with the Skylight calendar app or a similar scheduling system is a plus.
Above all, you’re trustworthy, thoughtful, and dependable. You take pride in following through, completing tasks thoroughly, and creating a sense of calm for a family. You understand that great household support often comes down to the small details and having someone reliable who can manage them with care and initiative.
