About this role

Technology supports almost every part of life at Skibo, from the systems our teams rely on each day to the infrastructure behind our member and guest experience.

We are looking for an experienced IT Lead to join us in a newly created role as our first dedicated on-site IT presence.

Although we operate from one Estate, the environment is incredibly varied. Our technology supports the Castle, operational offices, kitchens, workshops, activities, golf, gardens and teams working across the wider Estate. We need someone who is comfortable getting out into those environments, understanding how people work and finding practical solutions that support the operation.

This is an opportunity to understand our current technology landscape, build strong relationships across the Club and help shape how IT develops with the business.

We are not looking for someone who wants to manage IT entirely from behind a desk or through a ticketing system. We need someone who is approachable, curious and solutions-focused; someone who can balance security, reliability, user experience while making technology feel straightforward and accessible to the people using it.

About the Role

As IT Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day IT operation across the Estate, ensuring our systems, infrastructure and technology are secure, reliable and provide effective support to our teams, members and guests.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Review our existing IT infrastructure, systems, processes and supplier arrangements.
- Identify risks, gaps and opportunities for improvement across the Estate.
- Develop a practical IT framework aligned with the needs of the Club.
- Maintain appropriate records, documentation, policies and technology standards.
- Spend time with teams to understand how they work and where technology can support them better.
- Build strong relationships and be a trusted, approachable point of contact for IT.
- Provide practical day-to-day IT support and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
- Translate technical information into clear, straightforward language and build confidence across the Club.
- Manage user access, equipment and technology requirements across the employee lifecycle.
- Oversee the reliability of our IT infrastructure, systems, connectivity and equipment.
- Work with external specialists to maintain networks, cloud services and other core technology.
- Identify recurring issues and work towards sustainable solutions.
- Coordinate upgrades, new systems and technology improvements with minimal disruption to the operation.
- Consider the wider operational impact before recommending or implementing technology changes.
- Ensure appropriate cyber security controls, access and permissions are in place.
- Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements.
- Respond appropriately to cyber incidents and coordinate specialist support where needed.
- Provide practical guidance to colleagues and keep abreast of emerging cyber risks.
- Act as the key internal contact for IT providers, suppliers and specialist partners.
- Know when an issue can be managed internally and when external expertise is required.
- Ensure recommendations and solutions are proportionate, sensible and appropriate for the Club.
- Support the management of contracts, licences, renewals and technology spend.
- Understand how people work before deciding what the technology solution should be.
- Balance operational need, security, reliability, user experience and cost.
- Find practical solutions rather than simply identifying problems.
- Challenge poor practice constructively, remaining calm and solutions-focused when issues arise.
- Explore practical opportunities to use emerging technology, including AI, to improve how we work while considering security, data protection and the needs of our people.
- Look for opportunities to make technology simpler, more reliable and more effective for our teams, members and guests.
