The Sr. Manager, Regional Safety leads end-to-end on-the-road (OTR) transportation safety across Amazon's North America - West region. This leader owns the region's transportation safety strategy and implementation, vision, governance, investment allocation, and partner engagement - while leveraging worldwide GRS metrics and standards to drive safer roads. They lead and develop a team of regional safety experts, identify risk opportunities and direct safety mitigations. They will build the scalable mechanisms that let the business move quickly and in compliance. Success is measured by reduced on-road incidents and decreased safety risks, a strong safety culture, and improvement in transportation safety metrics and outcomes. The end-customers are the thousands of Amazon associates and carrier drivers who operate across the region's network each day.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will lead day-to-day OTR safety operations across the regional network, serving as the primary regional safety resource for operations teams, third-party carriers, and transportation teams; execute safety strategies, collect data for risk assessments, and respond to regulatory requests. Your team will oversee incident investigations, ensure regulatory compliance and proper documentation in Amazon's incident database, implement standardized field risk and hazard data collection, and drive corrective actions from investigation findings. It is critical to build and maintain strong relationships with regional leaders, third-party carriers and partners, and local operations and transportation teams; influence and engage stakeholders without direct authority. You will lead and develop a team of regional safety managers to drive safety excellence; set high-bar standards for safety leadership and standard work; hold the team accountable to our Leadership Principles. Your team will own the region's core safety metrics aligned to GRS (VSCR, VCR, TSIR, APMKM), close reporting blind spots, and establish a defensible data baseline for governance and investment decisions. Drive scalable mechanisms for increased driver capability, vehicle compliance, fatigue risk management, and carrier accountability. Maintain a strong field presence across operational sites, conducting site reviews and audits to verify that safety standards are consistently applied and to close execution gaps between policy and the ground.
