Responsibilities
- Modify existing electrical designs using AutoCAD after developing a strong understanding of company standards and requirements.
- Update and adjust electrical schematics to support ongoing projects and production schedules.
- Progressively develop the capability to design electrical schematics from scratch as familiarity with company processes and systems increases.
- Assist with building and testing electrical panels in the shop environment, expected to be approximately 1015% of the role initially and tapering to 0% after training.
- Collaborate with shop personnel to ensure electrical panels are built and wired according to updated schematics.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical panels during testing and make necessary design adjustments in AutoCAD.
- Participate in on-the-job training related to PLC programming and AutoCAD Electrical to expand technical capabilities.
- Communicate effectively with team members in both office and shop settings to coordinate design changes and production needs.
- Provide remote support for field issues, and participate in occasional short-duration travel (typically two to three days at a time) when on-site assistance is required.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software for electrical design and drafting.
- 25 years of experience in electrical design.
- Ability to read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics.
- Willingness to assist in building and testing electrical panels in a shop environment as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in updating and maintaining design documentation.
- Effective communication skills to work with both office and shop teams.
- Ability to learn and adapt to company-specific electrical design standards and processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.
- Familiarity with PLC programming is preferred but not required.
- Interest in growing into full professional design responsibilities, including designing electrical schematics from scratch.
- Comfort with occasional short-duration travel when on-site support is necessary.
- Motivation to work in a startup-style environment with evolving processes and opportunities for skill development.
Work Environment
The role is based primarily in an office and shop environment, with approximately 9598% of the time spent on-site. You will work in a brand-new, air-conditioned and heated shop facility where electrical panels are built and tested. The schedule follows a standard Monday to Friday workweek at 40 hours per week. The environment has a startup feel, with opportunities to shape processes and grow responsibilities over time. Most field issues can be addressed remotely over the phone, but the role may eventually involve limited travel, typically for two to three days at a time, to support on-site needs.
