About this role

SAIC is seeking a Network Integration Engineer to configure, secure, test, document, and deploy networked systems supporting high-fidelity training simulators for the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) community in Huntsville, AL. This position is hands-on and combines hardware rack integration, network configuration, operating-system administration, cybersecurity implementation, and functional testing.

The Network Integration Engineer will stage and integrate servers, manage switches, routers, firewalls, power distribution units, graphics systems, and user control consoles into portable and fixed-site solutions. The individual will establish approved system and network baselines; configure connectivity and access-control services; execute integration and regression testing; troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; and prepare systems for shipment, field installation, and operational use.

The Network Integration Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

- Install, mount, cable, label, and organize servers, network devices, power equipment, and associated components in transportable and fixed equipment racks.
- Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking, including IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, access control lists, and firewall rules.
- Configure and support network authentication and access-control capabilities, including IEEE 802.1X, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), or comparable Network Access Control (NAC) technologies.
- Install, configure, harden, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Enterprise Linux systems.
- Load approved operating-system, application, and network configuration baselines; maintain configuration control throughout lab integration and deployment.
- Execute documented functional, regression, connectivity, and performance test procedures to verify system interoperability and mission readiness.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, cabling, and network failures; document root cause, corrective actions, and unresolved risks.
- Support cybersecurity implementation activities, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance, vulnerability remediation, endpoint compliance, and configuration documentation.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, rack elevations, cable schedules, installation procedures, test reports, and configuration records.
- Package approved software updates and installation baselines to support field technicians and operational-site deployments.
- Provide technical support during lab integration, field installation, site acceptance testing, customer demonstrations, and sustainment activities.
- Coordinate with systems engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, and field support personnel to resolve integration issues and prepare systems for delivery.

Required Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline and five (5) years’ experience; additional four (4) years’ experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Clearance:

- Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain; US Citizenship required.

Required Skills:

- Hands-on experience integrating, installing, and troubleshooting networked hardware and lab environments, including servers, managed switches, routers, firewalls, user workstations/consoles, rack assembly, cable management, device labeling, and use of standard laboratory tools.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and network security, including IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, connectivity troubleshooting, and configuration/troubleshooting of firewalls, VPNs, access control lists, and secure remote connectivity.
- Experience with network authentication and access-control concepts and technologies, such as IEEE 802.1X, RADIUS, NAC, or comparable solutions, and foundational administration and troubleshooting capability in Windows Server and Enterprise Linux environments.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity and compliance frameworks, including RMF, NIST SP 800-53, STIGs, vulnerability remediation, and configuration control.
- Ability to follow detailed test procedures, perform methodical troubleshooting, and accurately document results, as well as create and maintain technical documentation (network diagrams, configuration records, installation instructions, test reports).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical findings, risks, and corrective actions clearly to team members and stakeholders.

Desired Skills:

- Current Cisco networking certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP Enterprise, or CCNP Security) and current cybersecurity certification aligned to applicable contract requirements (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CASP+, CISM, or equivalent).
- Experience with enterprise network access control and endpoint compliance solutions, including Cisco ISE, Forescout, Comply-to-Connect, Zero Trust architectures, and other enterprise NAC platforms.
- Experience configuring and supporting enterprise routing and switching, LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewall technologies, secure communications systems, and related network security solutions.
- Experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and cybersecurity governance artifacts, including authorization-to-operate (ATO) packages, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), vulnerability reports, and cybersecurity risk assessments.
- Familiarity with IT service-management, incident-management, and configuration-management platforms such as ServiceNow or comparable solutions.
- Experience supporting Department of War, federal, and military training environments, including UAS, modeling and simulation, mission-command systems, and related operational contexts.
- Experience supporting field deployments, customer-site installations, site acceptance testing, operational sustainment, and prior experience in military communications, signal, network operations, or comparable federal IT roles.
- Experience briefing technical status, test results, cybersecurity risks, and integration issues to leadership and customer stakeholders.
