About this role
We are hiring a Print & Textile Designer on behalf of a leading London supplier. This is a chance to join a print team of three within a larger womenswear design team and see your designs come to life for a dedicated retailer. With stripes and checks very much on trend, we are looking for a versatile designer who enjoys designing yarn-dyed stripes and checks and can turn their hand to all-over prints for women’s soft wovens, taking each design from initial brief through to final artwork approval.
This is an ideal opportunity for a junior to mid-weight print and/or textile designer with around 3 to 4 years of experience. If you specialise in textiles rather than print, we’d still love to hear from you. And if you’re a chameleon with experience in both, even better!
We are looking to see a commercial portfolio of stripes and checks, along with print work that shows a refined, understated interpretation of print trends for the high street. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and hand painting, along with experience in Easy Weave, will be an advantage, and full Easy Weave training is available.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing yarn-dyed stripes and checks for women’s wovens, from initial concept through to final approval.
- Building and developing woven designs in Easy Weave, including yarn colourways, repeats and weave structures.
- Working with mills on yarn-dyed developments, blanket submissions and lab dips, checking colour and quality against the original design.
- Trend research drawing on trend predictions, social media, runway, vintage fashion, street fashion and cultural influences.
- Comparative shopping, staying close to the high street and aspirational brands.
- Working closely with the womenswear design team and buyers to interpret each brief, shaping ideas and direction together with the Senior Print Designer.
- Supporting the print team with all-over prints, placements and recolours using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Executing repeats, half drops and colourways.
- Following each design through to strike-off or sample approval.
