KSC IMSO Computer Engineering Developer Intern

The Kennedy Space Center Integrated Management System Office (IMSO) is seeking an individual with strong computer engineering or computer science interests to support the design, development, and transformation of the Center’s electronic documentation and governance ecosystem. Our mission is to implement and continually improve Center wide management systems that align processes, procedures, and strategic outcomes across Kennedy Space Center.

IMSO operates entirely within KSC’s secure, on premises digital environment. The selected intern will play a key role in modernizing our integrated documentation system, an enterprise wide platform that houses all business directives, requirements, processes, and supporting materials. This effort includes rebuilding core system components, upgrading the underlying architecture, and automating manual processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, and user accessibility.

Role Overview
The intern will contribute to the end to end redevelopment of IMSO’s integrated documentation management system by:
• Designing and developing modern user interfaces that streamline navigation, improve accessibility, and support real time interaction with documentation content.
• Creating dashboard and reporting capabilities that provide automated metrics, system insights, and governance analytics.
• Building and integrating automated workflows, including the use of intelligent agents to perform low level or repetitive tasks such as metadata population, document routing, version control, and compliance checks.
• Developing an online authoring and editing environment for creating and maintaining Center level directives, eliminating dependence on email based routing and reducing administrative burden.
• Revamping and integrating system architecture to unify documentation storage, lifecycle management, and governance functions across KSC.
• Supporting system integration with enterprise applications such as TechDoc and iGrafx to improve modeling, workflow orchestration, and documentation lifecycle consistency.

Technical Focus Areas
The selected candidate will gain hands on experience in:
• Programming for user interfaces, dashboards, and digital workflows
• Designing electronic documentation architectures and structured data systems
• Building web components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or similar technologies
• Developing process automation, lightweight agents, and workflow logic
• Learning and extending enterprise tools (TechDoc, iGrafx)
• Applying information architecture and UI/UX principles
• Supporting systems engineering concepts within KSC’s internal digital environment
• Using Microsoft Office, Adobe, and related productivity tools for documentation and design

Computer Engineering & CS Skills:

Programming for user interfaces and digital workflows
Understanding of electronic documentation architectures
Familiarity with web development concepts (HTML, CSS, JS or similar)
Ability to learn and extend enterprise tools (TechDoc, i Grafx)
Experience with data management, information architecture, and UI/UX concepts
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe tools
