We believe a person’s individuality, traits, beliefs, and characteristics should be valued and embraced. Living by this ethos is essential to the success of our business. Our goal is to foster a more inclusive environment where every employee visibly demonstrates inclusive behaviors and respect for individuals.
ABOUT US
Beyond Retail Group is the retail operating business of Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc., bringing one of America’s most recognized home brands to customers across our ecommerce site, third-party marketplaces, and a growing physical store footprint. We are rebuilding our Finance organization around three verticals — Corporate Planning, Retail Planning, and Operations Finance — so that finance is a true decision partner to every part of the business. This is a rare chance to help shape a modern finance function at a brand in the middle of its next chapter.
THE ROLE
The VP, Retail Planning leads one of three finance verticals reporting to the CFO and is the senior finance owner of how the company makes money at the top line. You will steward the P&Ls of our revenue-generating channels — eCommerce, Marketplaces, and Stores & Omnichannel — and lead the net revenue management agenda (pricing, promotion, mix, and marketing investment) that turns sales growth into profitable growth. This is a hands-on leadership role for a retail finance executive who is equally comfortable building a team, owning a number, and challenging the business on trade-offs.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Net Revenue Management & Channel P&L Ownership
• Own the channel P&Ls from gross sales through contribution margin, accountable for delivering annual plan on revenue, gross margin, and channel profitability.
• Lead the Net Revenue Management / Revenue Growth Management agenda: pricing architecture, promotional strategy, mix management, and revenue realization (discounts, coupons, returns, cancellations).
• Improve GMROI through disciplined promotional calendar management — pre-event ROI modeling, post-event audits, and clear identification of what drives performance.
• Manage the tension between current-year profit and long-range growth, bringing clear, quantified trade-off recommendations to the CFO and executive team.
Planning, Forecasting & Performance
• Partner with the VP, Corporate Planning to set annual growth targets by channel, with explicit drivers (seasonality, promotions, segment and category growth), and provide channel input to the long-range plan.
• Oversee the daily/weekly topline outlook and Weekly Business Review, driving in-week and in-month actions to close gaps to plan.
• Provide channel inputs and accountability to the monthly forecast and close process, owning the commercial narrative behind results.
Marketing Finance & Market Insight
• Oversee marketing mix and advertising spend, establishing ROI measurement and investment guardrails.
Turn market share and competitive benchmarking data into insight that identifies growth opportunities and flags strategic risk.
• Ensure promotional, coupon, and growth-investment accruals are accurately forecast and reported.
Leadership
• Build, develop, and lead a team of directors, managers, and analysts; recruit to open roles and create a culture of decision-oriented finance.
• Serve as the senior finance thought partner to commercial leaders in Marketing, Merchandising, eCommerce, and Store Operations.
• Represent Retail Planning in executive, board-level, and investor-facing materials as needed.
WHAT YOU BRING
• 15+ years of progressive finance experience, with a significant portion in retail finance (omnichannel, specialty, or consumer retail strongly preferred).
• Extensive, hands-on experience in net revenue management — pricing, promotion, mix, and marketing/trade spend ROI — with measurable results.
• Demonstrated P&L management of a large, multi-channel business, including accountability for delivering plan.
• 5+ years leading finance teams at the Director level or above, including building or restructuring a team.
• Strong command of forecasting, annual planning, and long-range planning in a fast-moving retail environment.
• Executive presence and the ability to influence C-suite leaders with clear, concise, data-backed recommendations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Preferred
• MBA, CPA, or CFA.
• eCommerce and marketplace economics experience (fulfillment and shipping costs, returns, marketplace fees, retail media).
• Experience in a turnaround, integration, or finance-transformation environment.
• Home, furnishings, or hardlines category experience.
• Comfort with modern planning and BI tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive, Power BI, Tableau).
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE
• A fully staffed Retail Planning team with clear ownership of each channel P&L.
• A single, trusted view of channel profitability used in weekly and monthly business reviews.
• A pricing and promotion ROI framework adopted by Marketing and Merchandising, with a regular post-event audit cadence.
• Measurable improvement in topline forecast accuracy and in-year gap closure.
