General Description and Classification Standards
The Vehicle for Hire Supervisor is responsible for supervising and participating in the field enforcement of the City of Atlanta ordinances relating to operations of vehicles for hire. Duties at this level include, but are not limited to: supervising and training assigned personnel; reviewing reports, forms and citations for sound enforcement practices and accuracy; conducting inspections and checking for permits, licenses and inspection stickers; investigating customer complaints, preparing evidence; testifying at hearings; and maintaining and updating records for proper documentation. This is a team lead or "foreman" level position with a formally designated team of skilled employees, either in one or multiple skilled specialties.
Supervision Received
Direction received is very general and focuses on end results and is typically collaborative in nature. Makes decisions on technical issues, diagnoses, or procedures in collaboration with other supervisors or managers.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). 2 years experience as a Vehicle for Hire Inspector and/or increasingly responsible experience in dealing with the public or performing inspections or related experience are required.
Preferred Education & Experience
Associates degree or two-year equivalent degree in law enforcement or public administration (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis) and 3-5 years experience as a Vehicle for Hire Inspector is preferred.
Licensures and Certifications
Position would be expected to have licensure or professional certifications appropriate to the position.
Required: Valid Georgia drivers license
