About this role
Job Description
Company Overview
AESC is a global leader in lithium-ion and LFP battery technology, with a fast-growing footprint across Japan, the UK, France, China, and the USA. It is now expanding in Spain with a €1-billion gigafactory in Extremadura that will create up to 900 direct jobs in phase one. The Spanish facility is designed as the first net-zero industrial park gigafactory in the country, in line with AESC's mission to pioneer sustainable battery manufacturing.
Role Purpose
The HR Intern supports the Spain HR team across the whole employee cycle – recruitment, onboarding, HR administration and the international mobility of employees relocating from China to Spain – during the build-up of AESC's first gigafactory in Spain. Speaking Chinese, Spanish and English, the intern acts as a language and cultural bridge between Chinese, Spanish and international colleagues, helping expatriate and local employees feel welcomed, informed and supported from day one.
The role works closely with the HR team in Spain and at AESC headquarters in China, hiring managers from all departments, and external providers (immigration advisors, relocation agencies, payroll provider, universities and public employment services). It is a learning role: the intern will gain hands-on experience in 360º recruitment, Spanish HR practice and global mobility in a greenfield industrial project.

- Book and, when needed, accompany appointments (Extranjería / police, empadronamiento, Social Security, bank account, medical insurance) and support housing search and arrival logistics.
- Be a first point of contact for Chinese employees in Spain: answer practical questions, interpret in HR meetings and help them settle in Madrid or Extremadura.
HR Administration & Payroll Support
- Keep personnel files and HR systems up to date (new hires, contract data, absences and leaves).
- Collect and check monthly payroll inputs (new hires, leavers, absences, variable pay) for the HRBP and the payroll provider.
- Prepare standard HR letters and certificates, and keep HR reporting (headcount, vacancy tracker) up to date in Excel.
Translation, Communication & Employer Branding
- Translate HR policies, procedures, forms and internal communications between Chinese, Spanish and English.
