About this role

The Global and European Procurement Organization of ArcelorMittal (EPO) manages more than $30bn/year of spend across raw materials, industrial products, services, equipment, energy and logistics.

We are looking for a Buyer within Steelmaking & Finishing, who will take ownership of a strategic European portfolio of approximately €100m/year. The role combines market analysis, strategy, negotiation and execution in complex industrial markets, with exposure to energy, CO₂, raw materials, logistics and supply risk.

We are looking for exceptional potential rather than a predefined career path: someone intellectually curious, analytically strong and able to turn complexity into clear decisions and measurable value.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Analysis

- Develop fact-based sourcing and category strategies for a strategic European portfolio.
- Analyse markets, cost drivers, supplier economics, competitive dynamics and supply risks.
- Build business cases, scenarios and Total Cost of Ownership analyses to support major decisions.

Negotiation and Value Creation

- Prepare and lead high-impact supplier negotiations and commercial decisions.
Challenge assumptions, identify value opportunities and develop innovative sourcing solutions.
- Contribute to long-term supply, investment, asset and risk-management projects.

Execution and Influence

- Turn strategy into results across multiple European plants and stakeholders.
Prepare concise executive presentations, recommendations and decision papers for management.
- Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams while challenging constructively.
- Track performance, savings, risks and key strategic initiatives.

Profile Required:

- Strong academic background, graduates from Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Finance, Business or other rigorous disciplines.
- Fluent in English. Any additional European language is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- Strong numerical reasoning and ability to work confidently with data, economics and financial scenarios.
- Ability to understand complex industrial and commercial topics quickly and identify what really matters.
- Clear, concise communication and strong executive presentation skills.
- Commercial instinct, influence and negotiation potential.
- Intellectual curiosity, learning agility and sound judgement.
- Ownership, drive and willingness to challenge the status quo.
- Ability to work effectively in an international, cross-functional environment
- Candidates should bring intellectual horsepower, curiosity, drive and the ability to make an impact.
