LEO Pharma Cork are currently recruiting a Process Operator to join our team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract - Apply Today!
LEO Pharma is uniquely positioned to make a significant difference for patients. We focus on high-risk patient groups and supporting healthcare systems with high quality medicines. With 80 years’ experience, we empower healthcare professionals with expert treatments for illnesses involving blood clots and other critical-care conditions.
In Production we share a “challenge accepted” mindset and are guided by our winning behaviours of simplification, collaboration, and accountability, to achieve our goals. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently as well as part of a small team.
Your Role
As a Process Operator, you will help deliver safe, compliant production at our Cork site. Working within a team coordinated by the Process Flow Specialist and reporting to the Operations Manager, you will follow established procedures, maintain accurate records and support reliable manufacturing operations. Your attention to detail will matter at every stage, from receiving materials to completing production activities.
Your primary responsibilities will be to:
- Produce with precision: Manufacture heparin intermediates and APIs according to Standard Operating Procedures, operating production equipment and associated valves, pumps, services and utilities.
- Maintain quality and compliance: Follow current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), applicable Irish, EU and FDA requirements, and controlled-area hygiene and garbing procedures.
- Manage materials accurately: Receive, weigh, measure, label and reconcile materials, complete stock-control transactions and carry out required batch sampling.
- Keep operations safe and production-ready: Follow health, safety, security and environmental procedures, handle chemicals safely, prepare fittings for autoclaving, and clean and disinfect production areas.
- Document and improve: Complete batch manufacturing records, logbooks and in-process control sheets, while actively contributing to performance improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Your work will also include ethanol receipt, regenerated ethanol back-loading, operation of the ethanol distillation column, and effluent pH control and calibration. You will comply with the LEO Code of Conduct and site HR policies throughout your work.
This role offers varied, practical responsibilities across production and material handling, with opportunities to contribute ideas that improve day-to-day operations.
Please note: This role requires shift working and the site currently runs 24/5 so flexibility is required.
Your Qualifications
You will bring a technical foundation and the ability to apply procedures accurately in a regulated production environment. The key qualifications and capabilities are:
- A Level 5 Certificate or higher in science, chemical or industrial engineering. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
- Previous experience in a similar role within API manufacturing, biotechnology or bioprocessing.
- Knowledge of cGMP and its application to production, hygiene and documentation.
- The ability to operate equipment and handle production materials safely and accurately.
- The ability to maintain clear manufacturing records and contribute to continuous improvement.
As an individual, you are dependable, attentive to detail and comfortable working collaboratively. You take responsibility for your work, communicate clearly and bring a willingness to learn.
Your New Team
You will join the Operations team at LEO Pharma Cork, working alongside colleagues involved in API production. Your team is coordinated by the Process Flow Specialist, and you will report to the Operations Manager. You will also collaborate with Maintenance, QC and Quality Assurance to support safe, compliant operations and practical improvements.
