Java AWS Backend Developer (3–6 Years)

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, enhance and maintain Java-based backend applications and RESTful APIs using Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks.
• Develop scalable, maintainable and secure microservices following established architecture principles and coding standards.
• Integrate backend applications with relational and NoSQL databases, including data modelling, query development and transaction management.
• Build and maintain integrations with messaging and streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka and AWS managed services.
• Develop application components using appropriate caching, asynchronous processing and error-handling mechanisms.
• Deploy, configure and troubleshoot backend applications in AWS cloud environments.
• Work with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes; exposure to Amazon EKS is an advantage.
• Implement application logging, metrics and monitoring to support troubleshooting and operational visibility.
• Write unit, integration and automated tests to ensure code quality, reliability and maintainability.
• Analyse and resolve application defects, performance issues and production support incidents.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and continuous improvement activities.
• Collaborate with architects, QA engineers, DevOps engineers and other developers to deliver software features.
• Contribute to technical documentation and follow secure software development practices.

Work Experience

· 3–6 years of professional experience in Java backend development.

· Strong knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, concurrency fundamentals and common design patterns.

· Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data/JPA and RESTful API development.

· Experience developing microservices and integrating applications with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle.

· Understanding of SQL, database design, transactions, indexing and query optimisation.

· Experience with messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka, including basic producer and consumer concepts.

· Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud fundamentals; exposure to services such as RDS, S3, MSK, ElastiCache and EKS is desirable.

· Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and container-based application deployment.

· Understanding of caching concepts and technologies such as Redis or Amazon ElastiCache.

· Experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.

· Familiarity with Git, Maven or Gradle, CI/CD pipelines and Linux fundamentals.

· Basic understanding of application security, authentication, authorization and secure API development.

· Good analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills, with effective communication and collaboration abilities

Mandatory Skills

· Strong Java programming and Spring Boot experience.

· Hands-on experience developing REST APIs and microservices.

· Experience working with relational databases and SQL.

· Understanding of software testing practices, including unit testing.

· Working knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms.
