About this role
Job Requirements
Role and Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain macOS background agents for endpoint telemetry, device monitoring and cloud-connected services.
Collect CPU, memory, storage, battery, network and application-health telemetry using supported interfaces, respecting permissions, privacy and consent.
Implement sampling, aggregation and enrollment, on demand, real time and batch delivery, including persistent state, offline buffering and duplicate prevention.
Maintain secure cloud connectivity and IPC between privileged services and user applications; support configuration, feature flags and agent lifecycle workflows.
Debug performance, stability and resource-consumption issues; develop automated tests covering sleep/wake, reboot, network interruption, denied permissions and upgrades.
Collaborate on requirements, design, code reviews and release readiness; document changes and validation. Lead engineers also guide technical decisions and mentor the team.
Work Experience
Must Have Skills
Strong Swift and/or Objective-C experience, with the ability to maintain both languages in an existing macOS codebase.
Practical C++/Objective-C++ integration skills, including bridging headers, ARC and memory ownership across language boundaries.
Understanding of macOS architecture, launchd, LaunchDaemons/LaunchAgents, permissions, entitlements and privilege separation.
Experience with Unix-domain socket IPC; familiarity with XPC, GCD, queues, synchronization and multithreading.
Experience with system telemetry, scheduling, aggregation and reliable delivery; Core Data or comparable persistence, schema migrations, JSON and versioned data contracts.
Networking knowledge covering HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, certificates, proxies, timeouts, retries and reconnects; secure credential storage using Keychain Services.
Strong diagnostics using Xcode, LLDB, Unified Logging, crash reports and Instruments; ability to investigate crashes, leaks and excessive CPU or battery usage.
Experience with unit and integration testing, Xcode projects/workspaces, xcode build and dependency management such as CocoaPods.
Understanding of Apple silicon/Intel compatibility, arm64/x86_64 builds, Rosetta and macOS-version differences; sound secure coding, design and communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills
AWS IoT Core, MQTT, Kinesis, S3 or similar cloud telemetry services; cross-platform endpoint agents and shared C++ components.
IOKit, SystemConfiguration, CoreWLAN, system extensions, DriverKit, Endpoint Security or Network Extension, as relevant to the use case.
MDM, configuration profiles, PPPC/TCC permissions, managed enrollment and bootstrap-token workflows.
Code signing, hardened runtime, notarization, .pkg installers, secure self-update and release automation.
Controlled script/job remediation, including root/user execution, timeouts, cancellation and result verification.
SwiftUI/AppKit, Safari/browser extensions or native messaging; CI/CD, Swift Package Manager, CMake, SQLite or Protocol Buffers.
Collaborative team player, willing to cross-skill across macOS, cloud integration and shared agent components.
