About this role

Role Overview
Welocalize is hiring part-time Linguistic QA Testers with native-level British English. Are you tech-savvy, with a sharp eye for detail and a love of language? Then this is for you.
You’ll be an important part of the QA process for emerging technology. Depending on the project, you could be testing never-before-seen apps and technology, e-courses, marketing materials, or whatever interesting task comes your way. Your work helps make sure products sound natural, look right, and work properly for British English speakers.
As a QA Linguistic Tester, you’ll mainly proofread and edit content that has already been localized into British English, catching anything that doesn’t feel right, such as:
Grammar, typos, and syntax issues
Punctuation and capitalization errors
Culturally or politically sensitive wording
Inconsistencies and stray extra spaces
US-style spellings or phrasing that don’t belong in British English
You’ll also test user interfaces for functional issues, and occasionally adapt content from English into British English.
Main Responsibilities
Test a variety of products, from apps and software to e-courses and marketing materials, by carefully following test instructions and test cases
Find, write up, and report bugs and errors using best practices in client-specific bug tracking tools and our internal database system
Evaluate language in the context of software, mobile apps, and documentation
Act as the go-to expert for British English linguistic questions, researching and resolving issues as they arise
Follow project-specific quality standards, trademarks, style guides, and client-preferred checklists and glossaries
Troubleshoot basic problems, communicate clearly, and escalate testing issues when needed
Prioritize tasks and issues quickly and efficiently
Deliver assigned work on time and to a high standard
