Are you an experienced IT Asset Management professional who is passionate about establishing trusted asset data, strong lifecycle controls, and effective governance across enterprise hardware and software? Do you excel at balancing operational discipline, license compliance, cost optimization, audit readiness, and partnership across technology and business teams? If so, Guardian Life is looking for an IT Asset Manager to help advance our enterprise IT Asset Management capabilities.

In this role, you will lead and mature the processes used to track, govern, and manage hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycles. You will partner with Procurement, Finance, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, End User Technology, Application teams, and other stakeholders to improve asset visibility, strengthen controls, support audits, optimize software licensing, and enable data-driven decisions. You will also help ensure our IT Asset Management tooling, processes, and data remain accurate, scalable, and aligned with ITIL and industry best practices.

You are

- An experienced IT Asset Management professional who is passionate about establishing trusted asset data, strong lifecycle controls, and effective governance across enterprise hardware and software

- Excel at balancing operational discipline, license compliance, cost optimization, audit readiness, and partnership across technology and business teams

You have

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in IT Asset Management, including responsibility for hardware and software asset lifecycle management.

- Proven experience establishing or operating ITAM governance, policies, controls, inventory practices, compliance processes, and audit support in a complex enterprise environment.

- Experience managing software licensing and compliance activities, including entitlement tracking, normalization, reconciliation, renewals, reclamation, and optimization.

- Experience with a software asset management tool such as ServiceNow Software Asset Management Professional (SAMPro), Flexera, or a comparable enterprise solution.

- Working knowledge of hardware asset management concepts, inventory controls, asset lifecycle practices, and relationships among asset, procurement, discovery, endpoint, and CMDB data.

- Understanding of common software licensing models and the ability to interpret licensing, entitlement, and usage data to identify compliance risk and optimization opportunities.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and continuous improvement.

- Ability to develop meaningful ITAM metrics, dashboards, compliance reporting, and executive-level insights.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical, financial, procurement, security, legal, and business stakeholders.

- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and driving accountability where ownership spans multiple teams.

- Strong understanding of IT Service Management processes and ITIL principles; ITIL 4 Foundation certification is a plus.

- IT Asset Management or vendor-specific certifications such as IAITAM, ServiceNow CIS-SAM/CIS-HAM, or Flexera certifications are a plus.

- Familiarity with relevant governance, security, and control frameworks such as COBIT and NIST is advantageous.

You will

- Define, implement, and continuously improve the enterprise IT Asset Management (ITAM) strategy, operating model, standards, and governance for hardware and software assets.

- Own and govern end-to-end hardware asset lifecycle processes, including request, procurement, receipt, inventory, assignment, movement, refresh, reuse, return, retirement, and secure disposal.

- Own and govern software asset lifecycle processes, including software inventory, entitlement and license tracking, normalization, reconciliation, compliance, renewals, reclamation, and retirement.

- Establish and enforce policies, procedures, roles, controls, and data standards that promote accurate, complete, and audit-ready asset records.

- Monitor hardware and software asset data quality, lifecycle compliance, inventory accuracy, license position, and exceptions using dashboards, KPIs, and recurring controls.

- Lead software license compliance and optimization activities, helping identify unused or underutilized licenses, contractual risk, and opportunities to reduce software spend.

- Partner with Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Cybersecurity, Legal, Infrastructure, End User Technology, and application owners to align asset management with purchasing, contracts, risk, financial controls, and technology standards.

- Support software publisher audits, internal audits, regulatory examinations, and other assurance activities by maintaining supporting records, evidence, and repeatable controls.

- Administer, optimize, or provide functional leadership on ServiceNow’s Software Asset Management Professional.

- Partner with platform and technical teams to improve integrations with discovery, endpoint management, procurement, contract, financial, and configuration management data sources.

- Ensure appropriate alignment and reconciliation between asset records and related configuration data while maintaining clear distinction between financial/lifecycle asset management and configuration management objectives.

- Develop and communicate ITAM metrics and insights to leadership, including inventory accuracy, lifecycle status, license compliance, software utilization, audit findings, cost avoidance, savings opportunities, and control effectiveness.

- Drive remediation of asset management exceptions and compliance gaps, escalating material risks as appropriate.

- Create and maintain process documentation, operational procedures, governance standards, training materials, and stakeholder communications.

- Promote IT Asset Management best practices across the organization and serve as a subject matter expert for hardware, software, licensing, governance, and lifecycle management.

- Drive continuous improvement and increasing automation of ITAM processes while favoring sustainable, platform-native capabilities over unnecessary customization.
