About this role
Imagine what you can do here. Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their lives best work. Together we create products and experiences people once couldn't have imagined, and now, can't imagine living without. It's the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do.
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Lead the end-to-end design and engineering integration of a complex sub-system within the iPhone, which typically involves multiple customer-facing features. Work closely with multiple technical and operations disciplines spanning many cross functional teams to define engineering requirements and manage the resolution of design challenges associated with integrating key technologies into the iPhone. Design, engineer, and validate concepts, parts, and solutions using 3D CAD tools (e.g. Siemens NX). Integrate experience from Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical analysis and process control theory in tolerating and production capability, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing into design work. Interact and collaborate with overseas manufacturers to ensure designed parts are mass producible. Analyze structural and functional robustness of the design by working with finite element analysis and using statistical tools/techniques. Resolve issues and ensure the design meets requirements throughout its lifecycle by applying mechanical and material engineering principles to conduct failure analysis and determine root cause. Utilize materials and mechanics of materials engineering principles to design material-based solutions conducive to mass production. Parse and synthesize large datasets and complicated design details into visual summaries that clearly communicate issues and proposed solutions. Conduct failure analysis using data collected on advanced instruments such as industrial computational topographic x-ray scanners, and scanning electron microscopes to determine root cause and corrective design changes. Create technical drawings and test specifications for mechanical components, including call outs for GD&T, FAI/SPC, and ORT. Develop innovative analysis tools to assess performance of new, breakthrough technologies invented for iPhone. Domestic & International Travel Required 10%. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,190 - $225,300/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
PAY & BENEFITS: Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation. Learn more about Apple Benefits: https://www.apple.com/careers/us/benefits.html.
