About this role

Imagine what you can do here. Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their lives best work. Together we create products and experiences people once couldn't have imagined, and now, can't imagine living without. It's the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do.

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Work closely with multiple technical and operations disciplines spanning many cross-functional teams to define engineering requirements and manage the resolution of design challenges associated with integrating key technologies into the iPhone. Design, engineer and validate concepts, parts and solutions using 3D CAD tools including Siemens NX. Leverage knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical analysis and process control theory in tolerance and production capability, functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing into design work. Interact and collaborate with overseas manufacturers to ensure designed parts are mass producible using working knowledge of manufacturing processes used for metal, plastic and brittle components. Analyze structural and functional robustness of the design by working with finite element analysis and using statistical tools and techniques. Design material-based solutions conducive to mass production throughout the lifecycle and conduct failure analysis and root cause to resolve issues utilizing principles of materials and mechanics of materials engineering. Parse and synthesize large datasets and complicated design details into visual summaries that clearly communicate issues and proposed solutions. Conduct failure analysis using data collected on advanced instruments including industrial computational topographic X-ray scanners and scanning electron microscopes to determine root cause and corrective design changes. Lead the end-to-end design and engineering integration of a complex subsystem within the iPhone, which typically involves multiple customer-facing features. Create technical drawings and testing specifications for mechanical. 20% International travel required. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
