About this role

Are you an AP professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment? Do you enjoy solving puzzles, tracking down details, and keeping financial operations running smoothly?

PrideStaff is searching on behalf of a premier client in the heavy infrastructure and construction sector for a driven, detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to take ownership of their full-cycle payables operation. If you love building strong vendor relationships, mastering multi-entity reconciliations, and playing a vital role in large-scale projects, this is the opportunity for you!

What You’ll Do

As a core member of the finance team, you’ll oversee vendor workflows, safeguard cash flow, and ensure accuracy across complex project accounts:

Drive Full-Cycle AP: Match, verify, and code supplier invoices against purchase orders and field receiving slips, keeping disbursements on schedule.

Corporate Card & Expense Management: Review, code, and reconcile corporate credit card statements, ensuring receipts, documentation, and expense tracking are airtight.

Vendor Relations & Dispute Resolution: Act as the direct point of contact for trade partners and suppliers, troubleshooting billing variances and resolving statement discrepancies swiftly.

Month-End & Compliance Mastery: Support month-end closes through accruals, schedule preparation, and account reconciliations; assist with year-end 1099 filings and internal/external audits.

Multi-State Tax & Intercompany Entries: Help generate multi-jurisdiction sales/use tax reports and track intercompany charges across entities.

What You Bring

Industry Savvy: Prior accounting experience within the construction, infrastructure, or utility sectors is strongly preferred.

Software Skills: Hands-on experience with Sage ERP systems (or equivalent construction-focused accounting software) is a huge plus.

Analytical Eye: Exceptional attention to detail when verifying job costing, line items, and payment schedules.

Composure & Communication: Ability to collaborate across project management and field teams, adapt quickly to changing project priorities, and communicate professionally under pressure.

Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is preferred, but equivalent hands-on AP experience will gladly be considered in lieu of a degree.

Work Environment & Physical Snapshot

Primarily based in a professional office setting with standard computer workstation demands.

Occasional travel within the district or state may be required, which can include periodic visits to active operational sites with exposure to outdoor weather, dust, and standard construction surroundings.

Dynamic work atmosphere requiring adaptability, focus through routine interruptions, and solid prioritization skills.
