About this role
Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
Atlassian Administration is the control centre for every organisation running on Atlassian's System of Work. Admins use it to set up their organisation, get the right people onto the right apps, keep their data secure and compliant, and grow their Atlassian investment over time.
As Atlassian becomes AI-first, Administration is changing from a place where admins dig for information into one that tells them what to act on, explains how and why, and acts on their behalf. It's built on trusted data, flexible org structures and visibility into everything connected to a customer's Atlassian portfolio, and powered by Rovo and agents. The result is enterprise-grade governance with far less effort.
Your Future Team
You'll join Admin Experience , the team behind the operating system for Atlassian admins. Admins use it to set up and manage their organisation, get people onto the right apps, and grow their Atlassian investment over time. Our vision is an Atlassian Admin that tells admins what to act on, advises them on how and why, and acts on their behalf. To get there, we're rebuilding trusted foundations: accurate license data, reliable org structure through Units, and visibility into what's connected to a customer's Atlassian portfolio. At the same time we're launching AI-powered experiences such as Rovo in Admin Hub and a reimagined Overview. You'll be part of a small, high-conviction design team working on problems at enterprise scale, for some of the world's largest and most regulated organisations.
What you will do
- Design the high-stakes foundation every Atlassian customer runs on. Every organisation depends on Administration to set up, secure and scale how it works, one decision can affect every user, app and site. Admin actions are often irreversible and hard to see, so you’ll make changes clear, safe and auditable at the scale of the world’s largest, most regulated enterprises.
- Own whole admin journeys, not just screens. Define complete journeys end to end — setting up an organisation, structuring it with Units, managing licences, governing connected apps, including the edge cases, errors and bulk actions that only show up at scale.
- Shape AI-powered administration. Help turn Administration from a place where admins dig for answers into one that tells them what to act on, explains how and why, and acts on their behalf through Rovo and agents, designing the transparency, controls and governance that make admins comfortable trusting AI.
- Make Administration feel like one product. Many teams build admin experiences; you’ll create the patterns, information architecture and Admin UI Kit components that make them feel consistent and cohesive for admins.
- Turn trust into a design outcome and champion admins. Partner with Engineering and Data so licence counts, user activity and connected-app data are accurate and easy to understand. Represent IT admins, security teams and org owners, learning from customer calls, escalations and usage data, and measuring your work against leading enterprise admin tools.
What your day to day looks like
- Designing end-to-end admin experiences for complex, data-heavy and permission-sensitive workflows, such as licensing, org hierarchies, identity and access, and app governance.
- Designing AI-native and agentic experiences, including recommendations, approvals, audit trails and rollback, that earn the trust enterprise admins need.
- Building functional, AI-enabled prototypes to explore options, de-risk complex flows and test ideas with customers.
- Contributing patterns to the Admin UI Kit and the Atlassian Design System so the admin experience stays cohesive across contributing teams.
- Partnering with your PM and Engineering partners to define goals, reduce ambiguity and own outcomes as priorities change.
What You Bring
We'd love to see a portfolio that demonstrates:
- Enterprise and admin SaaS experience. 5+ years of product design experience with complex B2B, SaaS or enterprise software, including time spent on administration, settings or other data-heavy, permission-sensitive surfaces.
- Strong craft in visual and interaction design. A high level of craft across interaction design, information architecture and visual design, backed by strong systems thinking and experience contributing to design systems.
- Excellent prototyping. Strong prototyping skills that show behaviour, options and trade-offs, not just screens, to de-risk complex flows and test ideas with customers.
- End-to-end problem solver, grounded in evidence. Experience owning end-to-end UX, solving complex problems with clear, practical solutions, running generative and evaluative research, and measuring success through qualitative and quantitative methods.
- A great team player. Clear, evidence-based communication, the ability to influence cross-functional partners and stakeholders, and sound judgement balancing customer needs with business goals and technical feasibility.
What sets you apart
- Deep enterprise admin domain knowledge . Hands-on familiarity with concepts like SSO/SCIM, licensing, org hierarchies, and OAuth and API governance, you understand how large organisations are actually run and secured.
- Proven AI-native and agentic design. Recent, hands-on experience designing AI-powered features, workflows or agentic tooling, including the recommendations, approvals, audit trails and rollback that earn enterprise trust.
- Prototyping in code. Comfort building functional prototypes in code to bring behaviour and trade-offs to life for partners and customers.
- Scale and regulation. A track record designing for some of the largest, most regulated enterprises, where edge cases, bulk actions and auditability are the norm, and comfort collaborating across time zones.
