Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Machinist / CNC Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating manual and CNC machining equipment, positioning and securing materials, adjusting machine settings, and inspecting finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.

The ideal candidate has experience working with machining equipment, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. Candidates with manual milling or CNC machine operating experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

- Operate manual milling machines and CNC machining equipment to produce parts according to specifications.
- Position and secure workpieces using holding devices, hand tools, measuring instruments, and hoists.
- Monitor machine operations, gauges, and indicators to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and machining instructions.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Verify alignment, dimensions, and tolerances to ensure product quality.
- Adjust machine settings, including cutting speeds, feed rates, and cutting depths as needed.
- Install tools in machine spindles and replace worn cutting tools.
- Identify product defects and report equipment or quality concerns.
- Follow all safety procedures and properly wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain an organized work area and participate in shop safety meetings.

Qualifications

- Previous experience operating manual mills, CNC machines, or other machining equipment preferred.
- Experience using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal work instructions.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand machining specifications.
- CNC programming experience, including G-code and conversational code, is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to stand continuously throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment throughout the workday.
- Ability to recognize and respond to potential workplace hazards.
