Overview: Our client seeks a skilled, Interim Environmental & Regulatory Attorney for a 3-month assignment

Experience: Successful candidates will have at least 8 years of relevant experience
Location: Hybrid/on-site 3 days a week

Overview Our Client is seeking an interim attorney with environmental and regulatory law experience to support its Refining and Midstream businesses. This role will provide day-to-day legal counsel on environmental compliance, regulatory issues, enforcement matters, and agency interactions.

Key Responsibilities

A minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental and regulatory law, including experience supporting energy, refining, midstream, downstream, oil and gas, petrochemical, or similar industries.
Experience with governmental agency interactions, enforcement resolution, environmental due diligence, and corporate or commercial transactions.
Working knowledge of applicable federal and state environmental and regulatory requirements, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA/Superfund, EPCRA, NEPA, TSCA, RCRA, OSHA, PHMSA, and related fuels or renewable fuels requirements.
Familiarity with air emissions, industrial and hazardous waste, water quality, wetlands, endangered species, contaminated properties, PSM, RMP, and related reporting or registration matters.
Strong legal research, writing, communication, negotiation, collaboration, judgment, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, document comparison tools, and responsible use of AI-enabled legal technologies.

Required Experience

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school & Active law license in good standing
Strong knowledge of environmental statutes such as:

Clean Air Act
Clean Water Act
CERCLA/Superfund
RCRA
OSHA
PHMSA
Other federal/state environmental regulations

Ideal Candidate:

Experience leveraging technology and AI-enabled tools in legal practice
