1- Purpose of the Role (Job Summary)

Lead electrical design for data center projects: the full power chain from utility intake to rack, including load flow, fault and coordination studies, critical equipment sizing, and schematics that meet the contracted tier topology.

2- Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

· Prepare electrical design basis, load schedules, SLDs, and power-chain architecture (utility, MV, transformer, LV, genset, UPS, PDU, busway, rack).

· Run load-flow, short-circuit, protection-coordination, and arc-flash studies (ETAP or equivalent).

· Size and specify MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS and battery systems, busway, and PDUs for long-lead procurement.

· Design earthing, lightning protection, and power quality provisions; coordinate EPMS metering with the ELV Lead.

· Embed redundancy topology (N+1/2N, catcher configurations) and concurrent maintainability, and define electrical system boundaries for commissioning.

· Review OEM drawings and submittals; support technical bid evaluations and FAT witness scopes.

· Coordinate utility intake applications with delivery teams.

· Coordinate electrical services through BIM and resolve clashes before IFC.

· Answer site RFIs and support Level 3–5 commissioning, including relay settings and load-bank test parameters.

3- Key Performance Indicators

· 95% or better on-time electrical deliverables per the master deliverables list.

· Critical equipment specs released per the procurement plan.

· No design-origin commissioning failures on electrical systems.

· No more than one revision cycle on studies after client review.

4- Qualifications & Certifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).

· ETAP or SKM proficiency; Uptime ATS or CDCP is an advantage.

5- Experience

· 10–15 years in electrical design for industrial or mission-critical facilities, including 6+ years in data center facilities.

· Designed power chains for facilities of 5 MW IT load or more.

· MV systems and utility-interface design experience.

6- Competencies

· Rigorous study and calculation discipline.

· Revit MEP fluency for coordination.

· Redundancy and failure-mode thinking as second nature.

· Confident technical dialogue with OEMs, utilities, and client reviewers.
