- Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs plumbing system for water distribution systems, oil/water separator and holding tank.
- Assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Studies building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installation. Inspects structure to avoid obstructions in order to prevent structural weakening resulting from installation of pipe.
- Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level and plumb bob.
- Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools.
- Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine. Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by manual methods.
- Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools. Joins pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, couplers, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
- Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to identify leaks.
- Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, garbage disposal units, pulpers, dishwashers, urinals, toilets and sinks. Outside hydrants, fire hydrants and underground water and sewer pipes.
- Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains, repair water fountains and urinals.
- May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
- Disposes of scrap building materials and unserviceable parts IAW applicable regulations.
- Will be required to learn the operation of Vactor truck.
- Required to run hand augers, powers augers, sump pumps, electric eel, electric and manual snake pots, jet rodders, and mini rooter.
- Performs general janitorial housekeeping in work area.
- Perform repairs and inspections in and under buildings.
- May be required to perform work in non-job-related functional areas as directed by supervisor
- Inspect and perform maintenance on crawl spaces.
- Will be required to work outside, in inclement weather and on wet, icy, and slippery surfaces
- Will be required to use ladder or lift and work on structures or equipment above ground level.
- Exposure to dirt, grease and fumes and subject to cuts, burns, shocks, strains, and skin irritations from solvents and lubricants.
- Exhibit proper use of PPE
ED U C A TION a nd /or E X P ERIENCE
- High S c hool Diplo m a or e quival e nt G E D
- Mini m um of thr e e (3) y e a r s w a ter a n d /or w a ste wa t e r op e r a t i ons e x p e ri e n c e .
- Minimum of 5 years experience of journeyman level experience, and/or formal vocational/technical training.
- Minimum Class B CDL with airbrakes endorsement within 3 months of hire.
- Must maintain all related Texas licenses and certifications for plumbing.
- Prefer backhoe experience.
- Prefer DS III Water Distribution Certification or must be willing to obtain.
- Must be a ble to obtain s e c urity c le a r a n c e for u s e o f go ve rnm e nt comput e rs.

- Employees are required to drive company owned vehicles on a Federal Installation.
- Must hold, or be eligible to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Occupational Licensing Section, under 30 TAC Chapter 30
- License category and class must be appropriate to the system/facility type and size (Water: Class D–A, by groundwater, surface water, or distribution; Wastewater: Class D–A treatment, or Collection System Class I–III)
- Completion of applicable TCEQ-approved training course(s) for the license class held
- Resiliency training on file, per Senate Bill 3 / TCEQ Guidance RG-637 (required for all water operators as of April 1, 2024)
- Must maintain license in good standing, including completion of 30 continuing education hours per renewal cycle (including 2 hours of approved resiliency training for water licenses)
- Must pass the TCEQ licensing exam with a minimum score of 70%
