Job Title: Civil Engineer Job Description
This Civil Engineer role focuses on supporting a wide range of site and land development projects, including commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments. You will assist with the preparation of detailed civil engineering plans and construction documents, perform engineering calculations, and support permitting efforts with local and state agencies. Working closely with project managers, senior engineers, and external stakeholders, you will help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of site civil engineering plans, including grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management, and erosion control designs.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop detailed construction documents and engineering drawings.
- Support permitting efforts by preparing applications and coordinating with local, state, and regulatory agencies.
- Perform engineering calculations related to site layout, stormwater management, and utility design.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, architects, and other consultants throughout project development.
- Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather project data and support construction activities.
- Assist with the design of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use land development projects.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and project delivery processes.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on land development or site development projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for preparing engineering drawings and construction documents.
- Hands-on experience with drainage design, grading design, utility location and layout, and stormwater management.
- Strong understanding of site civil engineering principles, including grading, erosion control, and utility coordination.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations related to stormwater management, site layout, and utility design.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with project managers, clients, architects, and other consultants.
- Ability to conduct site visits and field investigations and translate findings into practical design solutions.
- EIT or PE license (Engineering-in-Training or Professional Engineer).

Work Environment
You will work in a professional engineering environment that combines office-based design work with periodic site visits and field investigations. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
