About this role
Sr Mechanical & Hydraulic Engineer
Are you a Sr. Mechanical Engineer who enjoys seeing your designs come to life, solving complex equipment challenges, and staying involved beyond the drawing board? We’re looking for an experienced Sr Mechanical & Hydraulic Engineer to join a technically driven engineering team supporting the design and development of complex industrial equipment and systems. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a combination of mechanical design, hydraulics, hands-on problem-solving, testing, commissioning, and product development. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of engineering solutions throughout the full product lifecycle, from early concepts and detailed design through manufacturing, testing, deployment, and continued improvement.
### What You’ll Be Doing
Design, develop, and improve mechanical and hydraulic systems for complex industrial equipment. Develop 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and supporting engineering documentation using modern CAD tools. Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials to support manufacturing and assembly. Design and analyze hydraulic systems to meet performance, reliability, and operational requirements. Take engineering projects from concept and detailed design through manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and implementation. Work closely with technicians and manufacturing personnel to support equipment assembly, integration, and troubleshooting. Participate in equipment testing and commissioning, identifying and resolving mechanical and hydraulic challenges. Provide technical support for existing equipment and investigate performance or reliability issues as they arise. Contribute to product improvements focused on reliability, maintainability, performance, and overall functionality. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful integration between mechanical systems and other technical disciplines. Ensure designs meet requirements for fit, tolerance, manufacturability, reliability, and performance. Support new product development, including concept development, prototyping, testing, and validation. Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to complex mechanical and hydraulic problems. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members while contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.
### What We’re Looking For
7+ years of mechanical engineering experience supporting industrial equipment, machinery, or other complex engineered systems. Strong practical experience with hydraulic systems, including design, application, and troubleshooting. Proficiency with 3D CAD software and experience developing models, assemblies, and production-ready drawings. Strong background in machine design, mechanical systems, and moving mechanisms. Experience taking designs from initial concept through manufacturing, testing, and implementation. Ability to create and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials. Experience working directly with manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or technical teams. Strong understanding of fits, tolerances, dimensioning, and mechanical design practices. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities with a practical approach to solving engineering problems. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple technical disciplines. Comfortable working in an environment where engineers remain closely connected to the equipment they design.
### Nice to Have
10+ years of experience designing or supporting complex industrial equipment or engineered products. Experience designing and troubleshooting hydraulic control and motion systems. Exposure to controls integration, sensors, instrumentation, or related systems. Experience supporting commissioning, installation, startup, or field deployment of equipment. Previous involvement in troubleshooting equipment issues within manufacturing or operational environments. Experience with both 3D modelling and 2D drafting tools. A strong systems-level mindset with the ability to understand how mechanical and hydraulic components interact with other engineering disciplines. Experience working in a fast-paced engineering environment where individuals have significant technical ownership and visibility.
### Why This Opportunity?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to do more than sit behind a desk designing individual components. You’ll have the chance to own technical solutions from concept through completion, working closely with the people who manufacture, assemble, test, and operate the equipment. You’ll see your designs come to life, troubleshoot real-world challenges, and have a direct impact on the performance and continued development of complex engineered systems. The position offers a great mix of mechanical design, hydraulics, product development, hands-on engineering, commissioning, and technical problem-solving, while providing the autonomy expected at a sr level. This is primarily an on-site position within a collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment. You’ll work closely with engineers, technicians, and other technical professionals and remain actively involved throughout the product lifecycle. If you’re a mechanically strong engineer with solid hydraulic experience who enjoys taking ownership, solving challenging problems, and seeing your work move from design into the real world, we’d love to connect.
