Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description
The Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading quality systems, resolving customer issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a high-volume automotive glass manufacturing environment. This role supports certification audits, implements corrective actions, and ensures production processes meet both customer and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the team in applying internal safety codes and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Translate customer requirements into production specifications, control plans, and process FMEAs.
- Provide direction and development for hourly Auditor teams; complete internal auditor training and communicate audit findings.
- Lead and support certification audits.
- Conduct weekly quality improvement meetings and drive PDCA activities with cross-functional teams.
- Act as a customer liaison, traveling to customer sites to resolve quality concerns.
- Support first production trials and monitor PPM improvement for new and existing parts.
- Lead corrective action tracking for customer complaints and audit findings.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering preferred).
- 3-5 years of manufacturing/quality experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel as needed.
- Experience with APQP (Control Plans, FMEA, process documentation, revision control).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with OEM quality systems (GM, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Nissan).
- Black Belt/Green Belt certification.
- Program management experience.
- Certified TS16949 auditor.
Work Environment
The role operates within a high-volume automotive glass manufacturing environment. It includes a day shift schedule with a start time between 7–9 AM and an end time between 4–6 PM. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $46.64/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
